General Mach Discussion / optical switch opb917bz mach lathe index
« on: July 17, 2013, 08:53:51 PM »
for the life of me i cant get the opb917bz switch working in mach. ???
i thought the one that worked forever died when upgrading my computer so i bought 4 more!

i have the c11g BOB and are trying to use the 5v on the input pins to run the red+ and white wires. i ran a 220 ohm on the red and once without. no difference. i cant find any ma output on the 5v pins.
the black and green are tied together and grounded on the grd of the input pins.
the blue goes right into pin 11.

the old computer worked fine with this setup for a long time but now i cant get any input on this.
if there is close to the right amount of power to the led should i be able to see it with my eyes?

General Mach Discussion / mach to usb DAC from radio shack?
« on: July 09, 2013, 05:46:02 PM »
so the shack has these cute little boxes with nifty electronic crap in them. I want a different way to send the spindle speed command to my lathe from mach3 so I figure I would buy it and try out my luck. the BOB (c11g) DAC seems to be unreliable for threading and this was 20$. ;D
anyone ever seen these?

in motor outputs the spindle would be set to some pin# on this and port 2 through the usb address?
spindle setup would be set to PWM and then it works? lol

General Mach Discussion / mach conversion to a cincinnati sabre 750
« on: March 20, 2012, 04:15:31 PM »
i just got a sabre 750 and are planning on going the mach route on it. it came with the acramatic 850sx controller but i am selling it all off to pay for the iron.
1 are the brushless (i assume ac) motors on the mill now going to be costly to make step/direction run?
specs are z axis

and i assume both x and y are

this came with some bds4's that i think are the drives?

General Mach Discussion / help with step/direction vfd lathe spindle
« on: February 23, 2012, 12:07:33 PM »
machine is a converted 12x36 lathe 2axis (xz)
mach turn
C11-G bob
2hp 3phase motor  3500rpm
hy series vfd   =  http://www.ebay.com/itm/120705048710?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649

my mach mill will run the motor fine with the same vfd.
the lathe vfd is set up 100% the same settings and seems to work fine.

i punch in the same motor tuning in turn and it is nothing like the mill.
i tryed this guys method and it kinda helped me tune it some.
http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,18580.0.html

the problem is i can get the top speed right on but it is not linear or correct at say half speed.
i am not sure on how to adjust the motor tuning to get the speed right or close thru out its range.
all of the spindle tuning parameters are very confusing to me.

i check the bob for 10v on full powert and it says 5v ish????
it seems i need some way to tune the pot on the bob and then start the spindle tuning.
i have a rpm tach on the spindle so i can see real rpm no problem.
any help is welcome. thanks

it seem to work to just change the code from xz to xy in wordpad.
change the g18 to g17 and such.
anyone ever try this?

i cant get dolphin to do the simplest thing. ???
the preview shows exactly what i want to do. i even took out some tasks to make it simpler.
the g code it makes is useless and looks like a child just jammed on the keys. :'(

« on: January 24, 2012, 10:19:24 PM »
optical switch works fine to the bob but machturn does not seem to use the info well.
i have an xlm if some one can look it over?
the bob red light shows good accuracy but mach seems to skip some pulses and does nothing but read 260rpm. lol
