General Mach Discussion / Motors won't change direction
« on: June 07, 2016, 10:29:17 AM »
Hopefully this is a simple one. I'm trying to convert an old Microkinetics SuperDrive over to Mach. I can get the motors to turn, but they won't change direction. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

General Mach Discussion / external e-stop requested after 10 seconds
« on: April 24, 2016, 04:19:51 PM »
Hello all. I am trying to configure my new pmdx-126 BOB for my mill. i keep getting an external e-stop requested after 10 seconds.i clear it, and it triggers the e-stop again after 10 seconds. I don't believe its a noise issue because i dont have anything hooked up as of yet. The 126 has an on-board e-stop terminal, but i have it jumpered.i use the diagnostic screen to watch it, and like clockwork, the e-stop led comes on then off. Any help is greatly appreciated.

General Mach Discussion / Mach turn threading issues
« on: February 20, 2014, 10:39:29 AM »
Hello. I am having an issue trying to make some threads on my lathe. The lathe will make a correct pass with the correct pitch on the first pass. On its return back to the start of the threads, it is just as slow as the threading pass. When it starts the second pass, it goes extremely fast, ruining the first cut. when it returns, it again moves at a very slow pace. I tried to install an older version, loaded only the necessary info to get the lathe motors to move properly, and it did the same thing. Please help as this is for work, and I have sold management on mach and all of its capabilities. Thanks in advance.

General Mach Discussion / A good compatible laptop
« on: March 29, 2013, 11:57:27 AM »
Is there a particular laptop that plays nice with Mach. I have heard horror stories of people plagued with problems trying to run Mach on them. I am looking to buy a good used laptop, but need to know what and what not to look for. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you.

General Mach Discussion / Router not cutting smoothly
« on: November 28, 2012, 07:18:13 AM »
I was wondering if someone could help me with a question. I watch videos of people, running Mach, and are able to cut circles and other shapes with arcs smoothly with no hesitation in thier cutting. I am using Artcam with a Mach 2 (inch) postprocesser. I have it set to CV. Not sure what else to try. Thanks, Andy.

General Mach Discussion / X axis/ dual motor, home reference
« on: September 17, 2012, 10:54:36 AM »
Hello. I am in the process of building a router that uses two stepper motors to drive the X axis. I have a motor on each side of the table to drive the X axis. I would like to be able to hit the "Ref All Home" button, and have a switch on both lead screws of the X axis to stop the motors. This way I will be able to "tweak" one of the lead screws to reset the gantry angle back to 90 degrees. Currently I am using only the X axis signal to drive both motors, and if for some reason one of the motors stalls, it really screws up the position of my gantry. I'm not sure how to set up a slave signal to drive the extra motor, but am especially confused on how tie in two switches for one axis. Any ideas would be GREAT. Thank you.

General Mach Discussion / CNC Wrapper HELP!
« on: May 10, 2011, 01:32:59 PM »
I am having a hard time believing that no one else is having this problem. I have a 4th axis on my router that works fine with the spline and gear cutting wizards in Mach. I have tried all that the help file says to do to set up the code, but when I run it, it does'nt even remotely do what it is supposed to do. I have the licenced version so that shouldn't be an issue. I have tried to contact them with these issues, but I have yet to get a responce. If someone out there has a working 4th axis set up that they would like to help me with, I would really appreciate it

General Mach Discussion / Mach Turn Help Needed
« on: February 01, 2011, 11:02:41 AM »
I am just getting into mach turn and wondered if I could get some help on my set up. I have a Taig lathe. I have 9" of travel on my Z axis and 2.5" of movement on my X axis. I am having a problem with my Homing/Limits entries. I am not sure of what needs to be entered in as far as neg. and pos. values. Also where my "zero" point should be in relation to the lathe. I have a cnc router that I understand, but this I am having trouble Wrapping my head around. On my router, my Z axis is the opposite of my X and X axis's. Is this true with my lathe? Any help would be appreciated. Thank You.

General Mach Discussion / TTL signal
« on: January 04, 2011, 07:02:58 AM »
I am trying to set up my laser to do some wood burning. My laser driver requires a 5v signal to fire the TTL. I tested the voltage on pins 7(+5v), and one of my ground pins (18-25) and all I get is +2.8v to +3.0v. My laser is not coming on so I think this is the cause. Any suggestions?Thank You.
