SmoothStepper USB / mach3 turn semi new install....need help
« on: June 25, 2013, 04:27:38 PM »
had an old mach3 with uss used on an old mill no longer being used ( moved up to haas mini ).  took all and hardware and installed on new cnc lathe project.  the mach3 profile for the mill still works and motors turn like soppose to.  however when i try to incorporate all the setting for a mach 3 turn ( lathe )profile i cant get motor to turn at all.

i tried copying all the setting from the mill profile to the lathe profile.  seems i am missing something.  if i could just get motoer to turn in the lathe profile i can get the rest.

any ideas ?

General Mach Discussion / Returning to 0,0,0 question
« on: January 01, 2010, 12:33:46 PM »
How do I change the order of which axis returns to 0 first?  For example currently it is X & Y first then Z last, but I would like for it to be Z first then the other two axis.

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Roatery Table addition questions
« on: December 14, 2009, 10:26:53 AM »
As the title mentions I am adding a Sherline rotary table and have a few questions.  I have read several posts on running the rotary table in degrees or linear, but what would be the easliest/most common to use?  I am using Bobcad v23, but pretty new to it and really new to 3d/4th axis aspects of bobcad.

Its currently set up as 3 axis, so the entire 4th axis addition will be new to me.  Any other tips or guides that have already been writtten for adding a 4th axis and/or a rotary table would be appreciated.  My basic setup is;

Smoothstepper
CNC4PC C23 BOB
CNC4PC C3 Index Pulse Card
CNC4PC C16 Photo Limit & Home board
KBMG 212D spindle drive
5v2a power supply
Homeade linear power supply of 28v8a.
Xylotex 4 axis stepper driver

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / widening a line in LC
« on: October 05, 2009, 05:42:16 PM »
I am wondering if there is a way in LC to widen a line or do I need to do it in the CAD program?  In the past I had always hand written Gcode, but now that some operations are more complex I am learning CAD & CAM.  For example I have a 3/16th bit and I need to widen the path .003.  Obviously this will require two paths, but what I am really wondering is there a option in LC to accomplish this?

Thanks

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / LazyCam origin coordinates
« on: September 29, 2009, 11:55:02 AM »
When moving the start point around in LazyCam is there a way to set that particular point to be a different XY coordinate than what it is by default?

Or is there a different way to do the following;

I have a fixture that I designed in CAD then I am adding layers to do the actual mill work on the items that the fixture will hold.  Since I dont have a auto tool changer I have to run different steps for different bits.  After making different layers for different bits I hide/view which ones I want imported to LazyCam.  This is all working fine, but after importing a DXF with certain layers into LazyCam, it associates the lower left corner of that drawing as 0,0.  Unfortunately, when I import the next layer/dxf into LazyCam it of course has a different perimeter because its performing different step, therefore it makes the 0,0 the lower left corner again.  This is going to be a different location each time due to the drawings being diferent from one to another.

As you can probably tell I am pretty new to all this and would consider mself a noob, so please be pretty basic in any recommendations.
