Ok, here goes!  I am the designer of a CNC Quilting machine for my wife, the client.  The client wants a new ability added to the Mach3 quilting program that I designed.  She would like to have the ability to set the sewing head at a specific location, and then move it to another location, let's say going from the left edge of the quilt to the right edge of the quilt, and push a button that will log the distance travelled, and based on that measurement, calculate how many times a given pattern will repeat in the space measured.  I am certain that it can be done, but being the dummy that I am, and definitely not a math wiz, I am pulling out my hair.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I am trying learn if it is possible to call an external Gcode file from within a Gcode file that is running.  What I am trying to do is be able to make a macro from a pattern repeating file that will call up the external pattern and repeat it the number of times entered into Gcode.

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / How can I speed up three axis movement
« on: November 09, 2010, 11:27:29 AM »
I am installing a third axis on my CNC Quilter.  It will have the X-axis, y-Axis, and A-axis.  When the code executes, i.e. x1.0000 y1.0000 A2.0000, the x and y motion has to wait for the A motion to complete before moving on to the next line.  This causes the movement of the x and y axis to stop moving.  Is there a way to overcome this?  The whole idea behind the CNC Quilter is that the motion will be smooth and the A-axis will move at the same time the Y axis moves without interfering with it's operation.  Any ideas? ???

Mach3 and G-Rex / Setting scale to a permanent setting
« on: May 19, 2010, 12:27:09 PM »
Hi all,

Is it possible to set the scale in Mach3 to a permanent setting?  I have found that my CNC quilter using Mach3 is calibrated to 1inch=0.0478 on the DROs.  By manually setting the scale to 0.0478, my files reproduce to exactly 1 inch scale.  Can I make this permanent?

Larry
