VB and the development of wizards / Filter for Start LED, OemLed(804)
« on: September 05, 2011, 06:49:38 PM »
OK, you smart fellers, maybe you can help me out.
OEM LED 804 is on when running a g-code program, but it also flickers on when you load a new g-code program or regen toolpath.  Is there a different LED, or something with which I can filter 804 so I can tell ONLY when I'm actually running a program vs. performing a regen?

(BTW, if anyone is customizing their system and hasn't spent the $10 on MachMAD, I can tell you it'll be the best $10 you ever spend.  I just picked it up and it has already proven useful.  Nice work, Pappa.)

How do you selecto two "boxes" to perform a combined operation like an AND.  Shift + click doesn't work.  Watched the videos, but can't tell what keys Art's using.

Mach Screens / What displays the G-code filename?
« on: December 26, 2010, 11:02:29 PM »
On the stock mach 3 screens, what loads the g-code file name into the box right below the g-code box?  When I look at that text display, it doesn't seem to have any scripting associated with it.

I must be missing a trick here somewhere?

PoKeys / PoKeys or Modbus - Need a little more IO
« on: December 07, 2010, 09:00:37 PM »
I need a little more IO for my pending CNC expansion (getting axiis 4 and 5 going).  Limit switches, pumps and stuff... no encoders or anything demanding like that.

Are there any real pros and cons between Pokeys or ModIO?  Does (can?) the PoKeys "miss" commands and leave an output on?  I've heard this is possible with keyboard emmulators.

LazyCam (Beta) / Extra circles - what am I doing wrong
« on: January 17, 2010, 02:33:14 PM »
I'm trying to pocket this little flower shape, and I'm getting extra circles on one of the pedals.  Here is the DXF, lcam file, and screenshots that may be helpful.

This project is actually several flowers and a letter, but it seems that the pocket function won't generate anything when I have it all in one dxf.  I'll take it one step at a time though.

Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong.

LazyCam (Beta) / Sanity check please - LC not posting
« on: December 31, 2009, 10:53:31 PM »
Could one of you capable folks load this dxf and see if LC will post code.  I can't seem to get anything to post.  I thought it might be because I don't have the Pro version of LC, so I generated this simple zigzag.  I tried all available dxf formats, but got the same results from all.  I do have the mach license.

Maybe re-install LC?

General Mach Discussion / M3 / M4 Problem - PROBLEM FOUND!!!
« on: November 18, 2009, 10:46:10 PM »
First my problem, then some gloat...

I have the spindle control set up with M3 as output #1 and M4 as output #6 (on the spindle tab of ports and pins)

When I call for spindle reverse, M4, output #6 comes on just like it should.
When I call for spindle forward, M3, output #1 AND output #6 both come on.

Luckily, my electricals prevent anything bad from happening with both forward and reverse active.  I suppose I could re-write the code for M3 and M4, but there is probably something else wrong.

Now for the gloat!  My machine is ALIVE!  I have 3 of the 5 axiis up and moving and running the sample roadrunner and scorpion programs.  My power drawbar works (hydraulic pump powered) and my spindle runs... in reverse... very well.

Anyhow, any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

p.s. if you use a solid state relay meant for switching AC, and you try to switch DC with it, very odd things happen.

So, I'm looking for 25-pin straight through cables.  I have questions in to a few ebay sellers, but nobody seems to specify if all the pins go through.

Also, can someone point me to a parallel port card that is known to work with mach / breakout bords. (i.e. I've read that some have lower voltages and cause problems.)

SmoothStepper USB / Help a Smoothstepper Noob - no outputs?
« on: September 15, 2009, 09:22:56 PM »
So, I have a SS and a couple of SoundLogic BOBs.  I'm getting inputs back correctly, all the way to Mach, but my outputs are not making it to the BOB.  The SS has a jumper for "5v to pin 26", but I don't know if that is required.

Any thoughts on what I have missed.
