General Mach Discussion / how to disable the toolpath display
« on: October 15, 2009, 03:32:31 PM »
this weekend i tried cutting a high res lithopane and after i generated the g-code the file was about 80mb and had roughly 3.3 million lines. i found the option on the settings screen to turn off the toolpath but this keeps getting reactivated everytime i start mach3 back up again. when trying to load this file it also takes about 5 min to load and if i don't have the toolpath disabled the cnc looses steps all over the place...

how can i disable this so it does not get activated everytime i start mach3 since i really don't use it anyway..

thanks
James

General Mach Discussion / PC Lockup with Mach3
« on: July 19, 2009, 10:31:24 PM »
this week after trying to actually cut something on my newly built machine i found that while in mach3 and running the g-code the computer would randomly lock and only a hard power cycle would bring it back. i started doing some research and seen the xp optimization doc, so i reformatted the computer and installed xp pro as a standard pc. once i reinstalled the pc and all the basic drivers to function i installed mach3 and tried cutting again, well it locked up 2 different times. if i have mach3 closed and just in the os i have left it on overnight and no lockups.

can someone point me to any fix or suggestions? or should i reinstall vista 32bit and try that?

the pc was my workstation that i just upgraded from so i know it is known good, it is a p4 3.4mhz with 4gig memory.

thanks

General Mach Discussion / Gantry Squaring Setup/Help
« on: June 30, 2009, 06:16:13 PM »
I am quite new to the cnc world so be gentle  :)

I have just about finished my "joes Hybrid" cnc machine and have been putting the final touches on the setup. currently i have all the home and limit switches setup and working in mach3. i have one switch per axis using a small ramp at each end to trigger the home/limit with the exception of the z axis where i only use the home and softlimits. all the XYZ switches are wired in series and connectected to pin 11, the A axis is connected by itself to another pin (which i don't remember right now) but the diagnostics show the switch activation when pressed.

i am currently slaving teh Y and A axis and want to square it when i do the ref all home button. i have tried some of the recommendations i found on the net but have not had any luck. the last thing i tried was unselecting the master slave checkbox in the general settings but that resulted in the A axis reversing direction just after the switch enabling on the home side then it just kept going while the Y was stopped.

any help in the steps to get this setup would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
James
