I have a Syil X4 Plus and Mach 3 controlling it. I had a part that was .625" tall and I needed to cut a counterbore .475" deep in 2 places. The first cut was much too deep and the second cut went all the way through the part into my vise's soft jaws. I used the Syil X4 profile in the support section, so I have not altered any of the settings.

Is this likely a motor seed/acceleration issue? My speed is maxed. Should I crank it down a bit? I am also using an older laptop until I can come up with a better computer.

General Mach Discussion / Wierd X offset question/problem
« on: June 09, 2009, 03:32:21 PM »
I have a Syil X4 Plus mill and am controlling it with Mach 3. I am using Featurecam to generate tool paths and then a postprocessor I found online to generate G-code. Here si my problem:

I clamped my material in my vise and then set the cutter at 0,0,0, then I zeroed the DRO in Mach 3. When I ran my program, the X axis is offset around .25" It runs fine in my featurecam simulation, but looks offset when I load the program into Mach 3. I ran the program anyway, and sure enough there is an offset. Is thhis a common problem? Do I need to change an offset somewhere in Mach 3? Any other suggestions?

Thanks!
