Newfangled Mill Wizard / Re-naming operations
« on: March 30, 2013, 07:22:40 PM »
First off I'd like to commend the creator of this conversational programming software. I use CAM for a lot of what I do, but there are times where CAM is too complicated for when I need to bang out a quick code. i.e. facing a part.

Anyways, is there anyway to rename operations? It can get confusing to keep everything straight if you have a few operations of the same kind. If not maybe something to add in the future?

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Backlash Comp Thud...
« on: October 28, 2012, 12:53:28 PM »
Has anyone successfully managed to get backlash comp to not make a THUD sounds every time it changes directions? It's leaving tooling marks in my circular pockets at the 4 quadrants. Currently my settings are .005 shuttle, 30% backlash speed.

Please help

General Mach Discussion / PWM Spindle Fluctuation
« on: August 01, 2012, 05:42:47 PM »
I have my spindle setup with PWM output to a Digispeed XL and finally to a GS3 VFD. The problem is the spindle fluctuates only when an axis is moving. If the machine is still the spindle is stable. As soon as it makes a move on any axis, the speed drops. Any ideas?

Thanks

Is there way to select pulleys within a brain?

VB and the development of wizards / Looking ahead into Gcode
« on: July 12, 2012, 09:09:27 PM »
Is there a way to have a script look ahead in a Gcode file and look for the next tool to be able to stage it for the next tool change? Pretty much how commercial VMC's with side mount tool changers do it.

Preferably on breakout boards. I accept the fact that if you place a capacitor between the input pin and ground, that it will act as a noise filter. However I don't understand how this actually works. Anyone care to explain?

Thanks

Brains Development / Rapid OverRide OEM DRO
« on: July 03, 2012, 09:16:18 PM »
I'm trying to map my potentiometer through pokeys, using a brain, but I can't seem to find the OEM DRO for Rapid O/R under the drop down. Any help?

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / PWM Spindle Output Problem
« on: June 28, 2012, 10:06:19 PM »
I'm using the Digispeed XL from Homann Designs with a GS3 AutomationDirect VFD and a 3600RPM motor, and I'm having a small problem. The spindle operates as expected, however the speed is not correct. I have a high and low speed. I've set the pulleys up, which the ratio box seems to have no effect on the PWM output. For instance my low speed is a max of 2000 and when I enter M3 S2000 the VFD is only running around 40hz or approx 2400 motor speed.

I'm not sure what exactly I need to adjust? Or what I'm missing here.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Strange backlash activity.
« on: April 29, 2012, 12:16:37 PM »
Okay last night I ran into two backlash problems I've not yet seen before while setting up my X axis. First off I replaced my ball nut with larger balls to reduce backlash. After installing the new nut and testing my backlash by moving the table in step mode by .001 increments and then moving the other direction, and watching for indicator movement, I came up with about .004 backlash. This struck me as weird, because I did the same on the Y axis and it has .001 backlash.

So I decided to move .100 via MDI and then back to zero. Same result .004. Now this is where it gets weird. I next decided to move a larger amount like 1in. The table came back to zero perfectly every time. I increased the movement each time until I was at the full travel of my machine, and guess what, perfect every time. I don't get it, anyone have any ideas?

The second issue is backlash comp. When I turn it on and it goes to move in the opposite direction it hesitates for a second and then it moves. I have the backlash comp set at 100% and it enabled, but it seems no matter what I put in the % box it has no effect on the machine. I've used backlash comp before many times and this is the first time this has happened.

Any help is appreciated.

PoKeys / Is there a way...

Is it possible to bring in sensor inputs from something like a proximity switch on the pokeys?
