HiCON Motion Controller / HiCON ports and pins
« on: June 26, 2021, 11:38:44 PM »
Hi all-

Can someone explained how I can turn an output pin on/off of my HiCON?

I have my solenoid valves connected to the board, and I can force them on, but I am trying to figure out how to get sheetcam to turn them on.

Any help would be appreciated

HiCON Motion Controller / Following error
« on: February 22, 2021, 09:12:21 PM »
Hi all

I was able to work on my flame/plasma table some this weekend, and I ran into a problem.

I do not know if this is a HiCON problem, or a Mach 4 problem.

When I use either the mpg hand pendant, or write a few lines of Goode using the MDI command, everything moves correctly.   I can get all three axis moving at the same time with zero issues.

When I use sheetcam to generate Gcode, and I run this code. When I get to the line that detects the top of the part with a g31, I start getting following error

“ Error:  following error limit exceeded on Motor 0.  Servo disarmed.

Do you have any ideas?

Thanks

Mach4 General Discussion / Can’t get macros to work
« on: April 26, 2020, 01:34:00 PM »
Hi all-

I am rebuilding my CNC flame cutter.   I switched from Mach3 to Mach4.

I am needing help with the macros to turn the solenoids on and off.

I found an example in the macro section and modified it to work.

When I use the macro editor and press the play button, it works as it should .   The solenoid turns and off .

When I save the file in my macro folder, and try to run a m201 nothing happens.   If I use m7 or m8 then it turns on the M7 an M8 indicator in mach4.

So I am doing something wrong.

Can someone help?

HiCON Motion Controller / I/o question
« on: April 19, 2020, 10:38:02 PM »
Hi all-

I have my hicon integra connected to my clear path servos.   I have everything working so far.

I also have the pnp version of the I/O card.

I have my solenoid valves connected to output #1,#2, and #3.   When I go to the HiCON diagnostic screen, I can turn the outputs on and off.

How do I turn output #1 to M code *********. Can some one point me in the right direction?

HiCON Motion Controller / trying to tune my motors
« on: March 19, 2020, 06:20:14 PM »
Hi all-

My plasma table has not worked in years, so I decided it was time for a rebuild.

I ordered a HiCON integra from Vital systems, and switched from Mach 3 to Mach 4

I have to table moving in all directions, but it is choppy at best for the y and Z.

Can someone explain how to tune the motors in both Mach 4 and the Hicon configuration page?

they are 850 IN oz  motors with a 5 to 1 gear box

thanks

General Mach Discussion / Is this possible?
« on: February 28, 2016, 08:04:24 PM »
I am trying to convert an old Amada NC ironworker over to newer controls.   My old controller died a few years ago, but I was able to get it repaired.   It died again, and the company that repaired it has gone out of business.

For the most part the controller is simple.   The hydraulic pump, and a cylinder that goes up and down, a turntable, and the NC locator that moves back and forth.

Is it possible to have a Mach screen that I can enter a length--- say 4 inches, then have the locator move 4 inches, the ironworker punches, then repeat ********* number of times?

What type of controller do I need?

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Mach 3 starts on its own
« on: June 29, 2015, 01:42:30 PM »
I turned on my flame table today, powered everything up, and pressed the red RESET button and the Y axis started to move on its own.   I have not made any changes, or added any updates.

I am using Toms CandCNC BOB, and it has a LED for each axis and it flashes when Mach3 tells the axis to move.   This LED for the Y axis is flashing, so Mach is telling the axis to move.

any idea where to start?

General Mach Discussion / New lathe idea.
« on: April 02, 2014, 04:54:37 PM »
Hi all

I bought a non working Mazak qt 15 lathe.   I was told it is a minor problem, but so far it is still broke.

I know it should be fairly easy (not cheap) to switch it over to Mach.   I have a Mach flame and plasma now, working on a mill also.

So here is my question-

Do you think it is possible to add "live tooling "to the lathe if I convert it to  Mach

General Mach Discussion / Problem with Mach3
« on: October 07, 2013, 07:50:04 PM »
I have been having problems with my set up for several months.

When I open Mach and start the program, I have to go into the ports and pins configuration page and change the address for the second LPT port.

I just change the last number to anything.  Then save the settings.   Close the page.   Reopen the page.  Change the address back to the original address.  Save it again

and guess what everything works!!.   If I don't do the above steps, everything connected to the port 2 does not work.

I usually just leave the computer running, but sometimes it gets powered off.

I upgraded to the latest release.   Did not help.

any ideas where to start?

dspMC/IP Motion Controller / Can the DSPMC/ip do what I need?
« on: October 05, 2013, 06:27:07 PM »
I posted a question similar to this one on the general tab, but so far no responses.

Here it goes

I have an Amada NC iron worker.   It has a six station turret that rotates.   I can punch, shear, notch and bend. It also has a x axis positioner.   This is a very handy machine, and the CPU has died.

Since it is twenty years old, and a Japan only machine- Amada is really no help.   I removed the CPU and shipped it to NC last week to a place that said they should be able to fix it.  I am not counting on it.

So I am planning on the worst.   If it comes down to it, I need to have a list of parts that I can order, and install  as soon as possible.

From what I can tell, I need a simple way to input the length for the positioner to move, and how many times to repeat.

It also has several limit switches and a few buttons.

The turret only uses a motor contacter to turn the table.

The only thing I am not sure of is how the pressure is controlled for the bend function.   There is a large know that I turn to adjust the amount of force.  Not to sure if it is strictly hydraulic, or electrical and hydraulic.

so I am planning on it being electrical controlling the hydraulic.   It should be 0-10 vdc for the input and 0-10 vdc for the pressure valve.

any ideas?

I will add a picture of the user interface in a few minutes.

thanks
