Need to make some room so putting this machine up for sale:

Wells Index 823/847 CNC Milling Machine
9x46 inch Table
#30 NMTB - Erickson #30 Quick Change Spindle
Reuland 2hp 3phase Motor Variable Speed Head
Windows XP PC with Mach3 CNC Software
Server Case containing CNC4PC Breakout Board + Axis Drives + Power Supplies
Superior Electric Slo-Syn Stepping Motors

Machine runs good ive made a lot of stuff on it
Needs a few things buttoned up - Limit Switch set needs brackets made and mounted etc.
Ballscrews in Nice shape could be used manually if handles attached
and has extended X screw for standard power feed attachment
Head only runs in High gear - wells index sells the part to fix it i just never did

Wells Index is still in business so parts are still available
Spindle Motor is 3 phase so you will need a Phase Converter or Variable Frequency Drive
VFD's can be purchased off ebay - these are inexpensive and offer a lot of options


I can load onto a car hauler type trailer for free
but must remove the head to get it out the garage door

Looking at an old Boss 5  machine

but I do not know where to start for conversion purposes

too much information


Could someone please break it down for me?

Need some kind of simple list of crap that needs to happen to make a pc control the beast

Some kind of framework to follow

I am not a machinist or an electrical engineer - just a guy who loves tools and sees the potential in thsi kind of setup.

I just want to utilize the tools to maek cool stuff

So thats why im here.

Hopefully some of you smart folks out there can push me in the right direction
