G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Can anyone help me with this GCode?
« on: April 07, 2010, 12:12:58 PM »
I created this code in Cut2d and i'm running Mach3 on my router. However when i cut this piece it does not follow the toolpath shown on the screen in either mach3 or cut2d.  Its starts out ok but at the same spot everytime it goes off on its own thing.

Can anyone assist me with a problem i'm having with my router!!! When i set my soft limits my -x axis ceases from jogging correctly. It slowly jumps ( very slowly) instead of a smooth and normal speed jog. It works correctly as soon as i depress the soft limits button. Then when i try to run a job and spindle doesnt go anywhere near where its supposed to. I select jog follow on the window view but when the job starts to run it doesnt follow the toolpath at all. The screen just sits idle while the spindle goes to a location on the table that its not supposed to be at. Please can anyone help i'm about to set fire to this machine. I don't understand the why this machine goes awry every now and then??!!! I didnt change any settings and now its doing this. Desperate for help. Thanks!

General Mach Discussion / Routing Acrylic!!! Please Help!
« on: April 15, 2009, 11:08:41 AM »
I am trying to route a logo into .220 Clear Acrylic.  I am using an .125" End Mill bit and i'm only plunging .09375" into the material. Can anyone give me advice on what my feed rate, spindle speed, etc..etc.. should be in order for me to get a smooth cut? Ive been toying with it but it seems everything i try still comes out poor. The acrylic is basically melting and re hardening where i'm cutting. The edges are coming out not as smooth as I'd like. Acrylic isn't cheap- so I'd like to stop this shoddy work! Please help acrylic masters!

Thanks- Brian
