LazyCam (Beta) / Lazy Cam vs D2NC
« on: December 28, 2008, 05:20:18 PM »
I have been trying to get good code out of Lazy Cam I it sure is not easy.  I have a dxf file that has many elements, these elements are all to be cut as one.  I did a polyline edit and joined all the elements and that was the wrong move Lazy Cam didn't not like that.  So I went back to the original and processed it and ended up with about 15 index moves, that just plain will not work at all.  I set the tool file not to raise the tool, or at least I thought that I did.   I took this same file and ran it through D2NC and guess what?   It is up and running.  Somehow I think that Lazy Cam is trying to do too much or something.  I found that D2NC was very easy to work with and I had the code I wanted.   What am I missing?   Is Lazy Cam useable at all?

LazyCam (Beta) / Lazy Cam dfx issue
« on: December 13, 2008, 11:05:13 PM »
I have some geometry that I created at work, the dfx file was created with A Cad and I ran it through Microvellum, created code for the Biesse rover 24 and it ran just like I wanted.  Set the start point and ran the entire program in one pass, with out any index moves.  This is just what I wanted, simple easy program arcs and tangents connecting in the middle.   So here I am trying to use the same geometry with Lazy Cam and I get all these indexing moves.  Oh and by the way with Microvellunm I had joined all the segments with a polyline edit making it one enity.  Lazy Cam did not recognize the polyline enity at all so I exploded it into arc and tangests and now have a chopped up program that is not what I want at all.  I am thinking of using the Microvellum out put, but I will have to edit out all the lines that have been inserted by the post processor.  What am I doing wrong with Lazy Cam?  Why can I not take several segments and join them to eliminate indexing moves?  I don't expect Lazy Cam to work like a $70,000 CAM package but I would think that it could do this.   Any suggestions?

Thanks
