I am very new at cnc but I have successfully made a few things using mach3 with this install.  I am using windows xp to run version R3.042.020.

While using the arc turning wizard to make a sphere the program/machine stopped about 1/3 of the way through when it got to this code  G01 X 0.75 it created that code (G01 X 0.75) and repeated it over and over dozens of times.  so i scanned down the code lines and it acted odd not wanting to scroll through the code then finally did and after i scrolled back up the repeating portion was gone.  with my limited knowledge i don't know how weird this really is or not.  But it is annoying if nothing else.  I closed the program and restarted it then changed a minor detail in the wizard dimensionally and ran the program over and it glitched again giving me the exact same error.  Before i ran the program again I scrolled through the code and there wasn't dozens of lines of G01 X 0.75 so it has to be creating it while the program is running.

My only thought is that my power supply is too close to my P.C.  If that is the case how close can they be without concern they are in the same cabinet.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks

Jamie

When i attempt to do thread milling my threads are off center in the hole and before i break another insert i figured it would be easier to just ask.  I am using a single point tool holder that was designed for use on the lathe for id threads.  My question is should i be centering from the center of the tool ie. shaft body which is hard to find the center being that the thread point sticks out a ways and is off center by design,  or should i use the tip of the insert as my center point?  or will it just be trial and error?

Next question is there a threading wizard or setting that i didn't see in the mach 3 threading wizard that will do pipe threads?

last question for the day will the threading wizard in mach3 do acme threads I don't see why not i just figured it was a matter of choosing the right pitch and threading insert

thanks in advance for any and all input

I just got my CNC machine up and running finally Very Happy

It is a Shopmaster Eldorado lathe bridgemill.

I am using Mach3 to run the machine and I didn't see any wizards that came with the program that would be easy to cut the K baffle. Again I am a newb on the CNC so there may be one there and i am not smart enough to find it let alone to run it yet.

But if someone knows of an easy wizard to use for that purpose or has the code already that they wouldn't mind sharing I would greatly appreciate it.

this is a K baffle

I have the Mach3 software installed on my computer and I have a ShopMaster Eldorado bridgemill/lathe with the Factory installed CNC kit connected to a Cxamtronics box.  I purchased this machine used (for a great price) from someone that didn't know what he was getting into and never got it up and running. It came with a Camtronics control box with 3 Gecko 201 drivers.

One of the gecko drives the power light is not coming on. I don't know but i doubt if one of the drives are not working would keep the whole unit from working.  I also have another control system with a dead power supply that I could rob gecko drives from if it would be necessary to get the unit up and running  they are gecko G320's and G340s  I have no idea if they are interchangeable or not.

I am getting 37.9 volts to the Gecko controllers but no voltage out to the motors

One of the members suggested that my info from the computer may not be reaching my breakout board and or controllers.

If this is indeed the case how do i go about rectifying it?  I hope and dream it is as simple a driver or a plugin.

Thanks for any or all input

Jamie
