Promote and discuss your product / MB3, The new ESS breakout board
« on: April 25, 2019, 07:44:17 AM »
The new MB3 is the continued development of the MB series of breakout boards.  It keeps the best features of its predecessors MB1 and MB2 and in addition allows all isolated inputs be used in both NPN or PNP mode and also to operate with either 5V or 24V. In this new design, the ESS board can be directly plugged into the MB3 without using ribbon cables. This makes the ESS easier to install and reduces the distance the signals must travel. It eliminates a number of contact points, as well as inductance and resistance between the ESS and MB3 board.
  • Runs on Mach3 / Mach4 with Windows XP, Win7, Win8 and Windows10 both 32 and 64 bit, on both desktop and notebook computers.
  • New! Utilizes All 3 ports of the ESS.

Promote and discuss your product / MB2 Bob for ESS
« on: April 28, 2016, 11:21:42 AM »
The MB2 is an Industrial environment BOB, featuring: 6 Axis Line driver; I/O that utilizes all 3 ports of the ESS; OSSD safety output; Status LEDs for all signals; Requires a single 24V power supply.

Specification and Features:

-With ESS, Ethernet connection helps controller and drives located away from PC and has more noise resistant than USB and parallel port connection.
-Run on Mach3 / Mach4 with Windows XP, Win7, Win8 both 32 and 64 bit, on both desktop and notebook computers.
-New! Utilizes All 3 ports of ESS.
-New! Motion command signal can be selected between Pulse/Sign, CW/CCW, Quadrature. Frequency can be selected from 32 KHz to 4 MHz.
-New! Differential line driver for motion signals, makes a longer wiring with more resistant to interference when comparing to TTL open end.
-New! Single 24Vdc Power supply is needed. On the board consist of  5Vdc isolate and non-isolate dc2dc converter, thus saving installation space and wiring.
-And more...

PoKeys / PoKeys57E with real working machine
« on: May 17, 2015, 12:51:30 PM »
The video shows devices, messy electrical wiring and brass machining. Drive system gets step/dir signals from parallel port, But others input output rely on PoKeys57E with Pobob.
The customer chose to use PWM analog from PoKeys57E/PoBob rather cheap BOB  because it gives better analog signal .

PoKeys57E/PoBob, This duo can do almost everything except catching index pulse for threading.

PoKeys / Limit and Home input inactive
« on: May 05, 2015, 08:23:28 PM »
Hello Matevž,

Recently, I noticed that, Plugin did not update pins configuration for the hardware and status. (v3.1.56)
I selected pin31 and pin32 for Limit, Home switch accordingly and I could not see any changes in Pokeys IO status tap when I toggled either switch. Also, In Pokeys Configuration tool shows this 2 pins inactive.

More issue, How can I get chargepump signal or similar to drive my chargpump circuit? If I do not use Pulse Engine. In this case I want to use Pokeys57E as I/O device for Mach3.

Best Regards,

PoKeys / PoKeys57E – Fast Encoder Problem
« on: March 13, 2015, 01:15:52 PM »
Hello All,

I’ve found a problem on fast encoder channels 1, 2 and 3. it always gives incorrect counts. I also have tried varies speed start from very low speed to high speed. It always gives extra plus and minus counts depend on direction of jogging.

Is this a firmware problem?

However, on ultra-fast channel 26 was OK, the counts was always correct.

The way I conducted the test is that. Hit Zero button for all axes. Turn on and off PoKeys57E the counters will reset to zero, Then Jog away from zero randomly, then hit Goto Zero button, Mach3 will command motor back to zero point.

The purpose of doing this, because I would like to use an encoder to feed back position of commanded position. In general Mach3 with parallel port, at Ports & Pins>Encoder/MPG, I assume that we can set scale value in Counts/Unit column and it will show feedback of  commanded position.

However, with PoKeys plugin, mapping an encoder1 to X encoder (DRO 29), The value of Encoder Position in tap Setting (Alt-6) will be the same as encoder counts which appears in status window of PoKeys Plugin.

Where can I set scale or Counts/Unit for encoder?

The feedback encoder is 1000 p/r and make a connection as shown in picture below, Plugin version is v3.1.51 (15.2.2015).

Pin mapping is here.
1 = 1.A
2 = 1.B
5= 2.A
6= 2.B
15=3.A
16=3.B
8=26.A
12=26.B

Thanks

PoKeys / Pokeys57E and ChargePump
« on: January 14, 2015, 07:54:01 PM »
Pokeys57E with firmware v3.1.45, does not stop generating charge pump signal when it lost connection. Can this be fixed in future version?

Thanks

PoKeys / Pokeys57E motion problem
« on: January 03, 2015, 01:23:37 AM »
Currently, I have motion problem as shown in video clip below. I use Mach3 R3.043.066 with pokeys57E  plugin v3.1.42 and v3.1.17.
The motion path would jump off G-code path and step signal was also jerking, the problem can happen at any time, sometime I could run G-code cross.tap for 2 or 3 times before symptom arrive.
I use External 4ch without IO and with other features like LCD, PWM, Encoder and PoExtBus
I tried to locate the bug by changing configurations such as
- change plugin version
- change notebook computer
- change OS between Windows 7 and  XP
- turn on and off LCD, PWM, and Encoder
So far I have no luck.

PoKeys / Pokeys57E with LCD enable problem
« on: November 06, 2014, 12:16:56 AM »
I have problems where pulsing is not smoother, graphic on tool path window and  x, y, z DRO value run away from actual value.

It took me few days to track down this problem. I did change several things such as PC, Windows version, Pokeys setting before I spot problem when I disable LCD feature then the problem is gone.

I have designed a BOB for Pokeys, named PoBOB, which allows users to attache LCD on the bottom of BOB in case they want to attach it in the back of panel. I conducted several tests, including LCD. However during one test, I didn't realize having removed LCD  from Pokeys could cause mentioned problem.

Here is my prototype and introduction in Thai
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/aDQQaqN6FiA?hl=en_US&amp;amp;version=3&amp;amp;rel=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" class="bbc_link bbc_flash_disabled new_win">http://www.youtube.com/v/aDQQaqN6FiA?hl=en_US&amp;amp;version=3&amp;amp;rel=0</a>

I hope next version of Plugin will detect whether LCD attach or not. :D

Promote and discuss your product / It's time to drive with MachDrive
« on: October 09, 2008, 12:05:01 AM »
Dear Members,

MachDrive is a result of my enthusiastic hobby. First I designed it for my own need, I needed a compact size and include basic necessary things
inside. Later I found that it could be sold, hopefully.

The MachDrive is CPLD-based, using LMD18245 proven reliable driver chip, 4 axis bipolar microstepping motor driver, able to drive up 3Amp 48 Vdc. All in one design including opto-isolated parallel port interface, charge pump, idle current reduction, high output current for driving external relays, all are packed inside small footprint of red anodized aluminum heat sink housing with convenience pluggable screw terminal. Works with Stepper and Direction controller software such as Mach2, Mach3.
