General Mach Discussion / Probing, what do you do with the Data?
« on: August 25, 2010, 10:52:39 PM »
Hi Again,

I finally got the Probe working and actually created a some Point Clouds.  Whats next?  I see that I need to convert this information into a STL File so that it can then be reduced to G-Code.

I have looked at several programs, MeshLab, PointCloud etc., and don't really understand them well enough to know what to get and what to do with them.

Has anyone had the experience of clamping an item to the table, scanning it, converting it, and then reproducing a finished work piece, that would be willing to walk me through the process.

I realize that this subject is complex, that is why I am only looking for entry level procedures with proven results to get started with.  I can build from that knowledge.

Thanks'
Clyde

General Mach Discussion / Basic question about Digitizing
« on: August 23, 2010, 05:34:09 PM »
Can anyone direct me to some simple directions to run Art Fenertys Digitize Wizard?  I have tried several times and am just not getting it.

1. After setting
  a. With (X)... +1.5
  b. Height (Y)...+1.5
  c. X axis travel height... +.75
  d. Z axis Probe Depth... .25
  e. X Stepover...+0.060
   f. Y Stepover...+0.060
   g. Feedrate...10
2. Check file Size
3. Click Create and Load G-Code (F)
4. Mach3 opens and displays G-Code
5. I then set and zero X, Y and Z.  Z is setting on Surface of work.
6. Press Cycle Start
7. Enter Save File Name
8. Press Cycle Start and program begins, However, The Probe Tip does not make contact with work surface.  It remains a small distance above surface.

CVI MachStdMill (MSM) / Can't get MSM installed
« on: August 19, 2010, 08:03:14 PM »
Hi guys,
I have been using mach3 for some time now and have been very happy, so happy in fact, that it has been a long time since I looked at the forum.  But today, I needed some info on using my touch probe to digitise a project, and to my suprise found all this new stuff about MachStdMill.

I quickly installed the latest version of Mach3 as instructed, and with great anticipation, tried to install MSM...  I guess I was so excited that I didn't read the instructions well enough or have become to slow to figure this stuff out.  In any case, I can't seem to get the screen set installed.

I have gone through the installation process several times and all seems to be going well until I get to page 13 of 18 sec. 5.2.9.  At this point I go brain dead.

I have tried to create a profile from my currently function profile as well as making a new one from MSM that is newly displayed in the profile list.  In either case when I try to load "MachStdMill.set" Mach3 shuts down and will not reopen until I shut down the computer and restart it.

Does anyone have any ideas .

Thanks,
Clyde

General Mach Discussion / Unusal GCode
« on: September 03, 2009, 08:04:45 PM »
Hi all,

This is my first post so please bare with me if I do something wrong...  My problem is that when I load a file generated by VCP into Mach 3 there is a number of circles that overlay the actual file.  I have tried various Post Processors with the same results.

The files are generated in the office and verified on Mach 3 before going out to the shop and do not display any circle overlay.

I have reinstalled Mach 3 on the shop computer but in continues to display the overlay.  Both computers are isolated on separate circuits as to not generate electrical interference.

Any Advise ????

Thanks, Clyde
