Third party software and hardware support forums. / Removal of SmoothStepper
« on: September 21, 2016, 12:09:37 PM »
Hi all.  I have had some problems with my mill.  To help troubleshoot, I would like to bypass my USB SmoothStepper and run Mach3 from the parallel port of my computer.  I have un-installed the SmoothStepper, and disconnected the USB cable and attached the parallel cable to the computer but Mach3 will not run because it is looking for the SmoothStepper.  How do I get Mach3 to run conventionally?  I am using a G540, and have Mach3 version R3.043.062.
Thanking you in advance,
Steve

General Mach Discussion / Cannot move Axis
« on: June 03, 2013, 10:36:39 AM »
Hi all.  I need your help.  I do not know what button I pushed, but I have lost the ability to move my axis using the keyboard arrow buttons.  The last time I used the mill, that function worked fine.  Now to move an axis, I have to hit TAB to activate MPG Mode, then hover the mouse over one of the axis. then left mouse click to get any movement.  I really miss being able to use page up and page down, left and right and up and down arrows.  In addition, while in MPG Mode, the Jog Mode is not working - so I cannot enter in a number and have an axis move that amount.  Very strange.  Any help would be appreciated.

General Mach Discussion / Gecko G320 wiring question
« on: October 24, 2008, 12:40:18 PM »
Hi all,
I am in the process of wiring a new controller for my mill using Gecko G320 servo controllers.  A question I have is wiring the "Optional External Fault LED Circuit" from page 5 of the Gecko G320 Installation Notes (dated April 3, 2008).  This circuit allows you to reset the servo controller externally, plus it gives you an LED indication whenever there is a fault.  What has me confused is the way to wire it.  There is a arrow pointing "To Computer", but I do not know how I will wire that to my BOB (CNC4PC C11G) since it is only one wire (I am used to two wires to create a circuit).  Has anyone wired this circuit, and if so, can you give me some pointers?
Thank you and God Bless,
Steve

General Mach Discussion / A axis setup
« on: October 30, 2006, 03:07:44 PM »
Hi All,
I have a Taig mill with a Sherline rotary A axis.  I am using Mach3, but something has me troubled.  How do I switch the configuration so that A axis is in degrees?  Here is the problem... I was running a program that told A to rotate 180 degrees.  Well, the A axis started to rotate, with each rotation equalling one - not 360.  The guy that sold me the mill told me the step per unit is 115,200.  It seems to jog properly, so I believe I have that correct.
Thanks,
Steve
