G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Strange tool offset problem
« on: August 19, 2009, 09:37:03 AM »
I am running MastercamX and am using the post found on this site for Mach3.   I have all my tools in quick change collets and have them all ref.  But whan I run a program it ignores the tool length offset.  From reading here and the manual it seems that the post processor isn't putting in the H~ call out for the tool # after the G44.  Can some one please help.

OR I am missing something....
I am running the latest lockdown

Thanks

Has anybody here used their plasma table for an automatic welder?  I have a bunch of 1/4"aluminum plates to weld up and keep thinking about using my table.  Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks

SmoothStepper USB / Blowing driver fuse
« on: February 20, 2009, 02:48:46 PM »
I am retrofitting a large knee mill.  Mach3->Smooth Stepper->C23 cnc4pc bob->Larken viper 100 drives->baldor servos.(all latest rev)  Every thing is working fine but one thing.
I have limits and then estops on all axises.  the X and Z work fine.  When I hit the limit on the Y it stops, then the fuse blows in the drive board.  Even hitting the switch at really slow speeds blows the fuse.  When this happens it jumps slightly in the oppisite direction.  Jogging>hit switch>machine stops>jumps back .01"> blows fuse.
The X and Z work fine,  hit switch>machine stops>press reset>jog off.

I'm tired of changing fuses ???  And am out of ideas.
Any here?

General Mach Discussion / Motor Tuning not Updating
« on: February 10, 2009, 06:53:15 AM »
I am running Mach3 R3.042.020 and the SmoothStepper though cnc4pcs C23 breakout board, driving Larkens Viper100 servo drives.
In the motor tuning page changes do not take effect until I save them AND close out the window.
Strange....  any thoughts?

Also my settings for X and Y are the same but the Y won't produce a pulse train.  When I jog the Y it starts/jumps about .25" then stops, with no faluts,  then when I release the jog it jumps again.
I'm stumped here too?

Any help would be great!

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Stepper working was fine and now its not????
« on: September 22, 2008, 05:19:37 PM »
New to posting here, but have been reading for a while, you guys are Great!!  Not sure if this is the right place to post but here goes.  I am building a router/plasma table.  I have a dtllc driver with 1/2 steps.  My x and y were moving fine and I did a few test runs with a maker and had good results.   I have two steppers slaved in Mach (A & X).   Today the A stopped working,  Mack was sending signals and the motor had power,  but it just sat there and vibrated.   I check all my connections and every thing seemed fine.   Then it worked.   About 30 min later both A and X quit,  doing the same thing.   I am at a complete loss.  any help would be great.

Thanks

Tom
