General Mach Discussion / build a real cnc
« on: November 11, 2009, 07:44:55 PM »
Here's the real setup for servo powered full sized cnc machines.

Ajax has a controller that runs on Mach.  http://www.ajaxcnc.com/
Check the link. you won't be limited to 80 volts as per Gecko drives. Easy to setup, no adjusting pots needed to tune your motors.
The drive is very similar to the ajax drive I have on a vertical mill running the Ajax program. If they would have come out with this unit a year ago , I would definitly have one, instead of any other drive out there for Mach..
The Ajax unit I have, has been running since Jan 2006, with no problems.
I am in no way affiliated with Ajax, just a user, and a happy one. ;D

Just thought I'd pass on this info.

The Best Engine

A notable gynaecologist once said,

"The  best engine in the world is the vagina.
It can be started with one finger.
It is self-lubricating.
It takes any size piston.
And it changes its own oil every four weeks.
It is only a pity that the management system is so blooming temperamental."   >:(

I'm sure you all know how x marines are, "once a marine , always a marine"
These plates were made for an ex marine to replace the Ford emblems on his 38 Ford pickup. theres one on each side of the hood
Drawn  in Autocad , Programed in Featurecam, and engraved in Stainless steel.

Here's a pic of a mold I just finished. Its for lead downrigger weights for a friend who runs a charter boat on Lake Michigan.
The mold is made from 2" thick alum plate. one weight is a 20 pound , the other is 12 pounds. These are used for fishing 200 + feet deep.
I first designed these in solid works to get the correct weights needed , then imported a cad dwg into featurecam to write the code. The main body was all machined with a .500 ball end mill on the y z plane with a .030 step over.  No g2 or g3. All g1 moves . The fins were done with a .250 and a .375 ball end mills. Over one million lines of code. Then a little elbow grease. Of course the finish didn't have to be that good , but then I tend to get a little carried away.

Tangent Corner / New Years Eve
« on: December 30, 2008, 10:34:31 PM »
Was some years ago ,I was dating this young dancer (stripper)  on New years eve we were making the rounds.
We had just left one bar and walking to the next on the other side the bridge, when she says, I gotta pee.

I said the next bars just ahead,  and she says I gotta pee now.  Was one of those open grate steel bridges, so she hikes up her mini skirt
and squats right there and commences to pee. I just kept walking slowly and humming to myself, making like I was alone, but weren't many people out then anyhow, when she hollers ,   ED COME LOOK,   I 'm peeing in someones Canoe.  I look down and  LOL, say
That's not  a Canoe,  It' s your reflection.

 True story  ;)
