General Mach Discussion / Trouble getting external switch to operate
« on: February 15, 2009, 07:33:57 PM »
Hi all,

I am trying to get an external momentary switch set up to act as cycle start. I am using port 1 and pin 15.
I set ports and pins input signals, OEM trig #1 to port 1 pin 15. Also set OEM trigger #1 code to 1000
in the hotkey menu. I have one of the switch terminals connected to pin 15 and the other terminal to ground.
It's not working. Am I missing something ??

Thanks
Al

General Mach Discussion / Mach 3 on lap top wont operate
« on: November 24, 2007, 10:50:35 PM »
Hi all, I'm sure this has been covered here some where but I can't find my answers.
I have been using Mach 3 on a PC with great luck for some time now.
Now I want to use it on a laptop with the same machine. I have tried 2 different laptops
both with WindowsXP and get the same results. All functions, movements, etc. work
fine on the screen but I get no machine movement(s). I tried to access the motor tuning
screen and it will not come up. I am using the exact same cable and software version I have
on the PC that works fine. I copied the complete mach folder from the PC to the laptops.
I also tried the latest Mach version and when I run it, the computer crashes.
Maybe I should just stay with the PC but the space saved with the laptop would be great.
Thanks

« on: May 28, 2007, 09:44:32 PM »
Hi Guys,
It's been a while since I last posted. I am having a problem and need some help.
I have set the esc key to the reset function. All axis stop fine and the program
stops execting when I press the esc key, but my spindle will not turn off. What
do I need to do to get the spindle to stop also ?
Thanks in advance.

General Mach Discussion / parts/cycle counter
« on: November 13, 2006, 11:57:16 PM »
Hi all,

Is there a parts or cycle counter DRO ?
I sure can't find it if there is although I may
be looking for the wrong terminology.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Hi all,
I just finished my first screen set for Mach 3. It is for a 2 axis lathe. Very very basic. My goal was to create a screen
that would control the machine completely from the keyboard with only one screen. This is not fancy at all but works
very well, at least on my machine. Maybe some one else can use it also. I used "F" keys. Other keys are designated
with a single quote. Exm: 'Regen uses key R. 'Spindle on/off uses key S etc., < feed rate lower >feed rate higher etc.

General Mach Discussion / working screens available ???
« on: September 06, 2006, 12:42:09 AM »
Hi, I am just trying out and learning Mach (2). Using it to control a lathe with Xylotex drivers. Wow is it smooth. What I need is a screen or screen set that is completely controlable via the keyboard. I don't feel comfortable operating a machine tool with a mouse. I feel it can be quite unsafe as dropping something as light as a pocket scale can click the mouse and it is just another item to clutter your work space.
A lot of the Mach2 screens give keyboard hotkeys (short cuts) but most don't work. I tried Mach3 and none of the screens for it have hotkeys designated.
What I am gathering from this forum is a lot of you are creating your own screens. I don't have the time or desire to do this. I need to spend my time making parts. So if anyone has a lathe, keyboard controlable, screen I would really like to try it out.
I am new to Mach and if I am overlooking or misunderstanding something please let me know.

Thanks
Al

General Mach Discussion / New to Mach2. Some simple questions.
« on: September 04, 2006, 05:07:01 PM »
Hello all,

I am new to Mach2 and very impressed so far. I have a couple of questions.
Not all keyboard commands are working. In particular "altR" to run program
and "alts" to stop the program. I would like to get to the point where a mouse
is limited in it's use. Also programing M30 or M2 does not rewind the program.
All work when clicking with the mouse.

Thanks for the help.
