General Mach Discussion / velocity

I need to speed up my machine.  The only way I can seem to up my max speed is to change my steps per.  Any suggestions?  My steps per is set at 15245 and I can only go up to about 98imp.  I need to move at about twice that.

General Mach Discussion / reverse run

When I hit "Feed Hold" and then hit "Reverse run", my head goes in a totally different direction (sometimes off the beaten path!)

Any help?

General Mach Discussion / losing steps?

Newb questions  I'll have lots of them!
1)  How do I know if I'm "losing steps"?
2)  If run I my router out 6' on x and y sometimes I'll gain an extra .125" on x.  When I cut a simple 2"x2" square my x axis has extra .125" on x.  Stepper motors
           
3)  What is Step pulse and Dir pulse in motor tuning?  They are set at 5.
