General Mach Discussion / Bad printer test results
« on: September 14, 2008, 09:57:01 PM »
Receiving bad printer testes results even after disabling all unnecessary services. Have tried 3 MB so far and all have the same result.
Getting proficient in Installing system on different MB's and running thru the optimisation. txt  but port seems to be silent and  without reason I get a wave that looks like a big fat hairy caterpillar and then goes silent again , have tried to run the alternate drive but the system blue screens on me.
Thinking that maybe this is an error if there isn't a breakout board connect yet , but should have one PMDX 132 in about two weeks time.
Only popup that I cannot seem to disable is the message that the updates have been disable but they are ??
Initially thought it might be the registration but thats been down now

General Mach Discussion / Finally Ready to CNC
« on: September 04, 2007, 02:12:47 AM »
Yes I am now ready to start to retro fit CNC as I have purchased and received my ZAY45 Mill ( Just like the Grizzley ones on www.industrialhobbies.com) those $$$ were suckers to save and whillst doing that you would get time to keep selecting bigger mills ! Suprised that my account and password was still active as it was 12 months ago since my initial enquiry to purchase one :o I guess the itch to CNC a mill still exists !
Has any one got plans or closer pics/ advice on how they converted one of these grizzleys mills to CNC.? and what size/type stepper ect ,,they successfully used.ect ect !!
I have made a choise to use the PMDX 131 breakout board with G202 drivers ( Mill was ordered and fitted with a 3 phase motor with a VFD controller so that allows me to look into fitting the PMDX 106 spindel controller) Well those are the plans. Any help to do it the right way the first time would be very much appreciated.

General Mach Discussion / Digitizing ????
« on: September 12, 2006, 10:13:27 PM »
I was looking at the features of Mach 3 and need to know if it cound be possible to use Mach 3 as a digitizing tool to create G code reference points that could be used to create point clouds.
If not I think it would be a great feature that could be used to reverse engineer components.
The way I see it working would be to create a electronic edge finder that would record the X,Y and Z G code point when the finder touches the surface and MACH 3 is given the signal to record that point.
By physically moving the table round in the X, Y, and Z a G code profile could be created exported back into CAD , modified in a 3D package  and the exported back into G code to mill out the changes required.

General Mach Discussion / Cannot wait to start !!!!
« on: August 17, 2006, 09:39:02 AM »
Firstly,

Hello to all

FYI,,,,::I am going to take the leap of faith and get into the CNC world, and I see that I have heaps of reading to do before I can start.
Looks like I have chosen Mach as the programme to use, by what I have seen it seem daunting at first but the on line tutes have done a great job of making this the place to start. I would be greatfull if I could get some help in choosing the correct hardware as this could become very costly if done wrong :-\

1.From my research I understand that I require drivers ( Gecho G201,G202 or G210 ) if starting new which is the choice to get and why??
2.Withthe breakout board I have read that Bob Cambell makes one as a series two his site has also the documentation to build one, there is another board the PMDX-131 from PDMX which one do I choose.
3. I there a preferred supplier to purchase from?

Many Thanks

Andrew
