Mach Screens / DRO's that count 0.01mm with 1024ppr encoder
« on: March 17, 2015, 06:57:14 PM »
Hello all,

I am redesigning my screen set in order to be more simple, regarding the work I do. One of the things I wanted was to remove the 3rd digit off the DRO's that shows thousands of mm's.

My problem originates from the encoders, being 1024ppr, so the calculation goes cyclic every now and then. I use my MPG at 0.01mm a step, and when I step with the DRO's formated at 2 digits after the dot I get jumps of 0.02mm every ~0.1mm or so, which is kind of annoying seeing that happen.

Is there any way to avoid this number rounding ? I know this happens when the thousands go from 4 to 5 every time.

PoKeys / A few question about Pokeys devices
« on: March 12, 2015, 04:16:42 PM »
Hello, first a big thanks for the nice product, I have a Pokeys 56E. I am still configuring it for my pendant here.

I have some questions though. Firstly what is the difference between the USB and the LAN version in terms of stability/speed of operation? My MACH3 system works without gliches so far, I want it to stay that way. I am planning to put 2 pokeys devices in future.
I see there is a newer device 57E, but what is the difference with the 56E ? Once I read the 57E is the same, but with more memory to handle the Poblocks schematics. Will there be updates for the 56E, or the device will be left as is eventually, replaced by the 57E ?

Another interesting thing, I haven't tried out yet. Can I use Pokeys as a standalone controller without the PC connection? Like in a car for example, handling various things, made in Poblocks.

Thanks !

PoKeys / New Pokeys 56 Modbus config with MACH
« on: April 19, 2011, 04:57:07 PM »
Hello, I am trying to configure mach3 and pokeys56 to see each other though the modbus interface. So far I have nothing but headache. I installed the device with the IP of 192.168.1.4 and made a connection with the control software. Everything works - digital inputs, encoders, analog inputs, etc.

First of all I started with the Modbus serial control monitor but have trouble understanding the correct slave address and start address values for the pokeys.

I watched the video for mach3 modbus config but it was intended for serial connection. I read through the manual, machsupport forum and wiki, but could not put it all into work. Will be glad if someone points me where to start about learning the mach3 to pokeys modbus connection.
