General Mach Discussion / scrolling the view window causes hangups.
« on: March 08, 2014, 08:55:13 AM »
I've just ran a job which is fairly large and feeds are pretty quick, and if i scroll or pan the view window the program goes bonkers loosing position and halting, after a few seconds it resumes but has lost position.

The comp is a p4 with 2ghx proc and 1gb of memory.

Has anyone come accross this before, and is there a cure.

I'm putting it down to the speed of the comp, any suggestions.

Hi guys, bit of an odd one here. I'm trying to devise a way of controlling up to 8 spindles at the same time, and have a lot of on off i/o available as well. Can Mach convert any of the existing axis controls to a spindle, or can it be done with Modbus or pokeys.

General Mach Discussion / toolchanger macro not seeing the tool number
« on: January 12, 2012, 08:16:09 AM »
Hi guys, i've run a toolchanger macro with 6 positions before in turn with no problems.
I came to write a new macro for a tool changer with 8 positions but I cant seem to access the tool number called from the M6 comand. Something that worked fine in all my other macros.

I've simplified the macro to just the two problematic lines and included it below.

 tool = GetSelectedTool()
 SetCurrentTool( tool )

I can force the macro to find a specific tool by putting "tool = 1" after those two lines. It finds all 8 tool positions ok, so my inputs are working.

The auto tool changer is enabled in general config, and the inputs and outputs are seen.

Any ideas, am i missing something obvious here.?

General Mach Discussion / step + direction to run a servo
« on: November 04, 2011, 09:02:02 AM »
Hi, a while back i saw a post with a link to an adaptor that converted step + direction signals (mach3) to run a servo through the encoder input. Does anyone remember this or can give me a link to one.

Thanks.

General Mach Discussion / z axis movement in machine coords.
« on: June 18, 2011, 01:21:29 PM »
Got an odd one here, i need to move the z axis to -32 relative to the machine coords regardless of what offsets are in force. It's going in a toolchange macro to set the z height for the toolchange. Is there a G code to do this.?

General Mach Discussion / tool offsets when writing your own gcode
« on: April 26, 2011, 07:38:32 AM »
Ok, i'm just starting with tool offsets and i've got an 8 station tool changer. When i write gcode manually and have to make a tool change what do i have to put in to make the change and get mach to see the offset.

i can get the change done with m6txx but how do i get the offset to apply. Do i have to add g43 hxx before the m6txx.

If that works how do i get the second tool offset for tool 1 to work.?

General Mach Discussion / Machine coords button

Would it be possible to have the machine coords button change it's icon to work offset when toggled.

It annoys the hell out of me.
