General Mach Discussion / How do G codes work and can they be changed
« on: February 12, 2007, 06:11:08 PM »
Hi

Is it possible to change a G code i.e. G84 or possibly make a new one.

My machine has a manual spindle start switch and a automatic spindle off via Mach so when you doing a simple tapping routine you can't use G84, as G84 for some reason asks to start the spindle, so you start the spindle it feeds down tapping the hole reaches the bottom of the hole stops the spindle, asks for a spindle start in reverse then feeds up before I've started the spindle breaking my tap, well it would if I let it run.

Thanks

Chris

Hi

I don't seam to be able to increase my feedrate override over 100%, is this just me or a bug or a new setting?

Thanks

General Mach Discussion / Spindle Start Macros
« on: September 25, 2006, 03:56:09 PM »
Hi

I've got a Brigdeport Boss 6 that I'm running off Mach 3, the spindle start relay isn't wired into Mach 3 but to a separate switch as it was originally, I use special macros in Mach3 for M3, M4, M5 and Marcopump that basically ask for a spindle start and Mach waits till I start the spindle before continuing, M5 just stops the spindle and the macropump stops the machine if the spindle stop's.

The problem I'm having is if I run a taping cycle, it asks for a spindle start I start the spindle and off it goes, the tap get to the bottom of the hole the spindle stops and Mach caries on going feeding the tap out of the hole without the spindle running.

Is there something I'm doing wrong or anyway of stopping this happening?

I could rewrite all my program with taping cycles in them to something like this

G0 X0 Y0 T26 M6
G43 H26 Z20.0 S100 M3
Z5
G01 Z-10.0 F100
M5
M4
G01 Z5
M5
M3

But I'd prefer to change something to get it working properly.

Cheers

General Mach Discussion / Can you stop release on outside jogging
« on: August 31, 2006, 01:35:18 PM »
Hi

When using my touch screen I've noticed if you press a jog button then move your finger off the button before releasing, the axis caries on jogging till you press and release the button again. While I can see the advantage of this for manual machining, I've also experienced the downside of it having my tool rapid straight into my job and not being quick enough to stop it, luckily it was only a wooden test piece.

Is there a way of disabling this function or changing it so it only does it on a double click or something?

Cheers

Mach Screens / Toolpath Colour Change
« on: August 21, 2006, 05:41:08 PM »
Is it possible to change the the colour of the tool path and if it is how?

I've bought a cheap second hand touch screen but the colours are very poor and you can't see the blue toolpath against the black background so if I could change the colour of one of them it would be great.

General Mach Discussion / Softlimits
« on: July 29, 2006, 12:45:56 PM »
Hi

I've noticed that the soft limits work brilliantly when jogging the machine around, I've got them set so they slow the axis right down before stopping just before the limit switch but when I ran a program the soft limit still work but no longer slow the axis down before it reaches the soft limit allowing it to carry on far enough to trip the machine out on the limit switch. Am I doing something wrong or do they all do that?

I'm very new to Mach 3 and have only just set my machine up to work with Mach 3 so please excuse me if my question is a bit silly.

Cheers

Chris
