General Mach Discussion / Simple motor control
« on: July 12, 2013, 02:55:28 PM »
This is almost embarassing....I've got a solid state relay connected to pin 16 of my parallel port. I had this working at one time (one hard drive ago) and am thoroughly lost in the configuration settings to turn the spindle motor (just a plain 117V AC) on with the M03 and off with M05 instructions.  No PWM, just on/OFF.

General Mach Discussion / Trying to import JPG
« on: November 05, 2006, 12:12:44 PM »
I have Mach3 installed on a PC with 2GB of RAM running XP Pro. I have been trying to import some relatively small jpgs to attempt engraving.  I have resized the jpgs down to 2" X 1.333" at a 72 dpi size.  I used dot diffusion and have depths running between .001 and .006 with a 60 degree engraving bit. After 10 minutes or so, I get a Mach3 not responding message. Has anybody had any success in importing jpgs? Suggested settings?

General Mach Discussion / Where is the Driver Test Utility located?
« on: August 26, 2006, 06:07:43 PM »
Where is the Driver Test Utility located? I've looked around the FTP site, with no luck. I've installed Mach3 and am trying to go through the tuning process. I'm having a problem with the Taig CNC Z axis. A rapid up, fails 2 out of 3 times. I call for 1" move, and the head raises about an 1/8th inch then buzzes. Of course the following downward movement wants to bury the tool into the stock.

General Mach Discussion / Where is the Mach 3 documentation?
« on: August 03, 2006, 10:43:54 PM »
I've been rooting around the web site, and can't find the Mach 3 doc. I found some "preliminary Mach 2 doc". Hopefully every question isn't addressed via the forums.

General Mach Discussion / Taig CNC MicroMill - Mach?
« on: July 25, 2006, 10:20:45 AM »
Well this is probably one that's had more than a few silver bullets pumped into it.  I have a Taig CNC MicroMill that is a seldomly used hobby machine. I have the updated controller board (that uses 1 parallel port) for 4 axis. I've got the 4th axis rotary, etc.    I tried Mach 1 or Mach 2 several years back, and the support was slim to none.  Is anybody using a Mach product (which one???) successfully with the Taig CNC?  Is there a user group of Taig users?  Is Mach overkill for the Taig?  Will Mach 3 run on Windows XP with a 1GHZ processor?  If YOU were setting up this mill, which Mach product would you use. I'm currently using MPS2003.  Any other hints would be great.

Thanks - Jim
