General Mach Discussion / Putting Mach on a different computer.
« on: December 20, 2009, 07:32:12 PM »
I just changed the computer that I use to run my CNC Router. When I loaded the copy of Mach 3 that I have ,R 2.63, onto the new computer, I noticed a change. It seems that I can no longer change the values in the DRO's on the Program Run screen. Before when I clicked on the DRO I could alter the value and run from there. Now I can't. What do I have to change or do to allow this?

Thanks,

Martyn.

General Mach Discussion / Homing the machine.
« on: November 22, 2009, 04:04:26 PM »
I just converted my Chinese bought router from a pendant operated to a Mach 3 operated machine. I installed a C11G board from CNC4PC and all looks good. When I try to "Ref all home" the machine, the X and Y axis DRO's turn to zero (without the axis moving) and the Z just stays at the same value.
What do I have to set up to get the machine to home properly?

General Mach Discussion / I could really use some help.
« on: January 05, 2009, 12:56:08 PM »
Howdy all,
last year I built myself a small (26" x 13" x 2") CNC Router. I set it up with Mach 3 on an older computer running windows 2000 Pro and it seemed to run fine. I would have a problem with the "Z" axis not repeating when I changed bits but all in all it was something I could live with.

Now however it is becoming very annoying. Not only is the "Z" not repeating but now the "Y" is out as well. I just tried to do some 3D work and the paths are not lining up at all. I have checked my rate of travel and it seems okay. Is there any setting in the control panel that I may have missed or that has changed on me somehow that would account for this?

I am ruining more material than I am keeping.

General Mach Discussion / Converting a DSP Controller system to Mach 3
« on: December 19, 2008, 07:19:52 PM »
Howdy all,
I recently purchased a used CNC Router with a DSP Controller system. I can't say that I like the DSP at all. Not enough feedback for me. How easy would it be to change the DSP controller to a computer hookup that I could run with Mach 3?

Keeping in mind that I am pretty much electronically illiterate I need to find a system that would be fairly easy to install.

The CNC is a Chinese unit that runs with 3 steppers and is 110 volts but 3 phase.

FAQs / Laptop requirements with Mach 3
« on: February 24, 2008, 05:33:47 PM »
???    I have looked over the forum and have found numerous posts that mention being able to use or not use a laptop with Mach 3. I am in the process of setting up a CNC Router and would like to run it with a laptop. I can use the laptop when I travel.

What are the requirements. I have found one with a parallel port but someone mentioned it has to be bi directional, an EEP or EPP port. The one I found has a IEEE 1284 parallel port and is running Windows XP. Will this work, and are there any other requirements?  ???
