The Vectric Team are very pleased to announce the release of Cut2D.
A new and affordable ($149) precision 2D machining package based on the
VCarve Pro toolpath engine.

Cut2D converts CAD DXF and graphics designs EPS, AI, PDF to GCode / CNC Toolpaths
for machining high quality parts and components.

Automatic cutter diameter compensation, machines designs precisely to size
without having to worry about manually offseting geometry for the cutter
being used.

Fantastic, high quality colour shaded 3D Preview with realistic material types
that show exactly what the job will look like when machined.

Affordable, easy to use software that's very functional and creates high quality
CNC toolpaths for virtually all CNC machines.

For more information > http://vectric.com/WebSite/Vectric/cut2D/c2d_index.htm

A fully functional Trial version of Cut2D is available to download from the Vectric web site.

The Free Trial version includes sample files and associated video tutorials that
show how to use the software and the toolpaths for these models can be saved
and cut on your own CNC machine.

We are very pleased to announce that VCarve Pro 4.6 has been released.

After releasing VCarve Pro 4.5 in November, a couple of usability issues surfaced that were primarily related to how the new 2D / 3D toolpath visibility behaved when opening saved files. This behaviour was annoying so we decided to fix it and version 4.6 now remembers the visibility state when opening files. While updating this behaviour we decided to take the opportunity to develop additional Profile and Pocket machining functionality that makes the software even more powerful and flexible.

Note - All customers who are licensed to run version VCarve Pro 4.0 / 4.5 should have received this update information. Please contact - support@vectric.com if you have not received this information or have any questions.

***********************************************************************************

Version 4.6 is a Free Upgrade for customers running VCarve Pro version 4.0 / 4.5 and the new software can be downloaded from the Vectric Forum.

Hello Everyone,

We are very pleased to announce the release of our latest product Cut3D - Powerful, Quick and Easy 3D Model Machining.

Cut3D is the simplest way to machine 3D models from CAD or Graphics design products such as AutoCAD, Rhino3D, 3D Studio, Silo, Lightwave etc.

Scanned data from laser or touch probe devices such as the MaxNC and ShopBot Digital Probes as well as the vast number of 3D models available off the Internet can also be machined quickly and easily.

Cut3D is incredibly easy to use and includes z level roughing, finishing and cut out toolpath strategies, interactive tab placement plus high quality preview rendering that make the software perfect for cutting 3D models.

Multi-sided Machining - Single, Double and Four Sided machining

You can test Cut3D for yourself by downloading the Fully Functional Trial version and cutting the free 3D evaluation models on your own machine. This version will also open your own 3D models, calculate toolpaths create stunning 3D preview images but does not save toolpaths for these models.

High quality Toolpath simulation

Models can be sliced into machinable pieces

Large / thick models that do not fit under the gantry on your machine or you don't have thick enough material can very easily be 'sliced' into thinner sections. For example, a 24" high model can be sliced into 12 x 2" thick pieces that can then be machined and assembled.

Interactive Tab placement to hold the job in place

Let us know if you have any qestions about the new software.

Promote and discuss your product / Interesting 2d Sign Cut From Acrylic
« on: September 14, 2006, 06:13:58 PM »
Most of the photo's and information we post about VCarve Pro tends to show detailed designs cut using the 3D VCarving  / Engraving / Ball nose cutters. We tend to overlook ways in which the software can be used for straightforward 2D profile machining, so here's a great new project from sign maker and ShopBot owner Bart (Wemme) from down-under in New Zealand

The sign is cut from acrylic and the lettering is spaced off the back plate by 15mm and looks awesome under UV light. Bart is looking at adding leds to illuminate the Letters but this is still in the pipe line. Unfortunately the photos don't do it justice.

Another Great use of VCarve Pro - Cheers Bart!

Promote and discuss your product / Imaginative application of 3D Texturing
« on: September 04, 2006, 06:14:55 PM »
Gerald D and his son Sean have been experimenting with the new 3D Texturing Toolpath strategy in VCarve Pro and carved this stunning desk on their MechMate router running Mach3.

The 3D Texture was carved using an 80mm (3") Dia Ball Nose cutter.

Very creative and great use of the software.

Promote and discuss your product / VCarve Pro Version 3.1 Released
« on: August 19, 2006, 03:14:21 PM »
We are pleased to announce that Version 3.1 of VCarve Pro has been released. This is a free update for all registered users of VCarve Wizard and VCarve Pro. All registered users have been e-mailed with the new download details, so let us know if you haven't received this information.

Below is a list of the new features and changes since version 3.0 was launched at the beginning of July.

Circular Arc Output - G02 / G03

This is the major change for version 3.1. Profile and Pocketing toolpaths created from designs which contain arcs will now be output with G02 / G03 moves. New postprocessors have been included for Mach3 and using these output options reduces the size of toolpath files and gives smoother and higher quality machined edges.

As well as changes to the program, we have also had to modify the postprocessors to support the new commands. Therefore, when you go to save a toolpath with the new version check if there is a PostProcessor available with the word 'Arcs' in the description.

If there is not an arc postprocessor for your machine, and your machine supports circular arc output, please contact support@vectric.com and we will look at creating an updated post.

Preserve Arcs & Beziers When Welding

In previous versions, when two vectors were 'welded' together the resulting vector approximated any arcs and beziers in the shape with short straight line segments. This made it hard to edit the shapes subsequently. With version 3.1 the arcs and beziers are preserved wherever possible making the design process much more enjoyable.

Miscellaneous Improvements

Added align horizontal and align vertical icons to drawing tab
Display warning if import AI/EPS/PDF files which only contain bitmap data
Set cursor for zoom and pan as soon as tool is selected
Remove S shortcut for scale as used for smooth point. Now use T for scale (
[T]ransform) [/list]
Changed drawing and selection order so that more recent objects are 'over'  older objects when drawn and selecting

For a full list of changes please see the thread called "Version 3.1 Released" on the Vectric forum at ... http://vectric.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=2
