General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach 3 keeps freezing
« on: September 13, 2017, 08:31:30 AM »
I have had the same issue. I have  USB SS  and  5 meter USB cable. Additionally I have 2 spindles with 2 VFD  running same time. Without  any preventive action I could run 4 or 5 minutes then  mach3  was freezing .  After reading your recommendations  I put  2 ferrites  to both ends of USB cable. It helped. Frequency of random stops is decreased  but didn't solve completely. Then I have ground my machine. I t didn't help at all.  I have put another wire shorting to machine chasis  and shell of USB input cable of SS.  There is no freezing at all now. I can run at 4 khz setting. ( due to my pc can't meet demands I have dropped it to 1 khz later)  At beginning  I can't go over 500 mhz.  I hope this will help the people facing same problem.

General Mach Discussion / I'm really confused
« on: November 01, 2014, 03:39:19 PM »
I have 2 XML files for the same machine. One is moving very smooth while cutting path consisting very small lines while the other one runs jerky . I can't find the reason.  I'm attached both files. and sample g-code

Additionally as I dropped the kernel speed machine cuts faster . for example at 100khz  300unit/min  at 25000 around 1400 units /min.   What a relation???

I got this pendant .It works good  but Mach3 menu functions slow down when it is connected.

With the constant power of laser it is not possible to get correct shape . Power should follow the feed rate particularly when cutting the soft materials such as balsa wood. Following sketch describes what I mean..

Is there any way to adjust spindle speed according to cutting speed (Unit/min) automatically? I need this to control laser power . While cutting small parts  kerf can not be under control with the 2.5d option . Mach3 calculates actual travelling speed .Can a macro to control spindle speed using actual vector speed overcome this problem ?

General Mach Discussion / Re: Routing Acrylic!!! Please Help!
« on: April 28, 2009, 03:01:15 AM »
We are  cutting acrylic successfully with O-cut (single flute) cutters. Keep the  plunge moves slow to prevent the acrylic broken only. Speed is around 18000 rev/min . Spindle concentricity is very important to get smooth finish.Othervise you will see rough surface.  With 5 mm cutter you can go 25mm/sec. Last thing do not use climb milling. Conventional milling gives better result.

Most of the time it is not possible to create the shapes as an arc form. Once exploded circles are turned to small llines . unfortunately it is not possible to keep the circles as an arc again.(at least I don't know :)) I have chosen high feedrate since it is cut by laser. I have chosen constant velocity mode . For smaller objects  exact stop mode gives better results as expected.
" Next is your CV Distance led/button on the Settings page should be on. Is it?"
As far as I know just checking it in genaral configuration menu is enough. I've never checked it in setting page so far. it is on and value is 180 but CV feedrate led is off.  What is CV feedrate ?

"I'll have a look at it in mach later but can you cut a diamond shape or triangle with g01 moves"
  Sure I will cut it.

By the way it is 50 cc yak wing..

I'm using  Z 2,5D option to on/off the laser. For this  reason I keep the  Z  +0,1 - 0,1 mm range to save time.

This is DIY cnc laser table. Tube is chinese 80 W ones. Gantry is driven both sides to keep the motion equal both sides. I have used T5 type gears and toothed belts. I'm thinking if I should use MXL types since they are running smoother. But I still think Mach3 is the main factor. Manual jogging running smooth but when the program running I see some jerky movements. Particularly if the feed rate is not 100%  jerky movements  become more visible. I wonder If I use smooth stepper can I solve the issue.
