General Mach Discussion / Virtual Keyboard
« on: April 16, 2011, 11:05:42 PM »
Hello  ;D

I work for now on small lathe that I have installed tablet touch PC with smooth Stepper, this machine do not have hardware keyboard , only 4 push button for jogging and selector for select  rapid, feed or step
for this that work very good...

My problem is for input the number in DRO readout and the Gcode in MDI lines...  my tablet pc work on windows 7, I use for now the windows7 virtual keyboard.   when I want setup DRO I need to open keyboard before, touch the DRO, and try to input the number on a very small button in small screen...

I will like to create my own keyboard with only the 10 number and important letter (XYZAGMFSIJK).  create keyboard was easy, but How Can I create or read an event when I push DRO readout ?  when I touch DRO readout, my keyboard need to turn on...
Do you know if mach3 can call external program or macro when I touch a DRO or MDI line ??????

General Mach Discussion / Re: Encoder wiring on OLD machine.
« on: January 05, 2011, 05:35:09 PM »
if the wire was twisted in delta, it was not an encoder

for mach 3, you need ttl 5volt encoder, ttl encoder had 5 or 8 wires (8 wire if differentiel)

General Mach Discussion / Re: Soft limits and slaved axis
« on: January 05, 2011, 07:50:53 AM »
i had similar problem with my softlimit on my fresh lathe retrofit,

my soft limits works very good, it stop good on both axis but when i try to run program, mach3 send messagebox warning if my program run within 4 inch of the soft limit ....

if i escape the alarm, the program run good without close position with limit

i have only .75inch of slowzone in soft/home screen, this lathe run on diameter mode, i use smoothstepper

i use 2khz

on my milling, I use pwm output for my spindle, I use opto coupler with capacitor and 2 resistor on SS output... that work very good but My spindle was not synchronised...
you can synchronise spindle with index pulse, but I was never try... I can't help you on this...

Ground problem ??

On SS,  the 2 port had independent ground...
you can add optocoupler, that reduce noise.....

Mach3 does'nt work with 0-10 volt analog drive for axis... only for spindle....  the controler for analog drive had totaly different logic...  Mach3 sent pulse for displacement with théorical acceleration/deceleration of table....

analog controler send 10 volt to drive and wait to approch position for decelering...
