Good afternoon!

Just started with the CNC working two weeks ago.
As a Cybersecurity Specialist I am very familiar with Computer controlled systems and I belive I have a basic understanding about this topic.

Anyhow - I had only one main requirement: Designing and cutting front and backplanes for housing of different cases. Cuts for AC-Connector, fans, BNC or PL259 connectors (only circles), cable grommets and simple drills for mounting the front and backplanes on the T-Slot-Cases.

So I bought a Sainsmart Genmitsu 3018 Prover Mach3 and the Mach3 Software key (had to wait 2 days until I got the license code) and just started with simple tasks.

I belive I got already far in my learning phase, but still have some topics to learn.

If someone is reading this "Here I am message" and owns also a 3018 or 3040 and has suggestions about better / more stable workpiece fixation please reach out to me! I don't like the clamps provided with the kit and in my opinion they are also not very good in fixation.

Second topic I am still looking for input: CAD/CAM Software to create those designs.
Right now I am using Carbide Create V5 - had to say it kind of works for me but some limitations/features are bothering me.
For example the 2D Toolpath "Drill" just doesn't drill deeply enough.
And for me the biggest concern about this software: I am not able to measure in the software positions accordingly. The "GRID" is kind of helping but it would make much more sense to use ruler in the software to measure from one point to another.

So again:
If someone is reading this "Here I am message" and has suggestions for a better software without the requirements of a sience study please reach out to me!

Looking forward for many good conversations and keep on rocking!

Alexander
