Got the old Hermes working!

Just bought a Campbell Design breakout box and hooked it up.

Figured out the machine pinout (trial and error) and within A DAY, all axis and limit switches are working!

Will post a video shortly, although the wiring is not pretty just yet ...

Thanks, Brian.

Can we use AMD and Intel processor?

For HT (virtual dual processor), do we need to disable it?

Can we just disable the on-board video board and use an add-on?

For the parallel port, can we use PCI parallel port?

Thanks,

Pierre

Hi all,

I am about to get Mach 3 (or 4?) running on my new engraver (see other post on Hermes Vanguard).

What is the best computer carateristics to run Mach 3/4?

Thanks,

Pierre

Thanks, Brian.

It has a 12" X 14" X 2" travel. I also got the chip vacuum cleaner that is not shown.

I got it for a bottle of single malt whisky! (actually, I threw in a bottle of Grand Marnier as well ...)

I also found a company in California that will provide the pinout. I will post here the developments.

Brian,

One of the limit switches is connected to one pin on the DB25 (see attached picture). Chances are good that I can use a breakout box and directly from a computer using Mach 3/4.

However, adding new drives is in the cards ...

Thanks,

Pierre

Hi all!

I am new here although I have been looking into Mach software for years.

I just obtained a used Vanguard 6000 engraver. However, I do not have the computer and software that goes with it. I believe that if I knew the pinout of the DB25 located at the back of the engraver, it could be interfaced directly to a computer using Mach 3/4 software.

In addition, it could be converted to 3D.

Anybody have an idea?

Thanks, and kudos to Art!

Pierre
