General Mach Discussion / G-Code not reading properly?..Help? LazyCam?
« on: April 24, 2019, 09:07:55 PM »
Hello mates!

Question..? Been running into a little bit of a dilemma for the past few days. Im not an expert at Machining so might not know a whole lot but willing to learn.

so far I've been running our company micro mill for about 2-3 years with basic 2D cutting projects but using super cam when we first got it. We then had to move on to using something more universal as super cam was no longer being supported... so im slightly familiar with mach 3 and (lazy cam. I know its not the best but its what I have).

Heres the question and photos to go along with it...

When I do my CAD work in Corel Draw and load it into Lazy Cam as a PLT/HPGL. I Then post code and load it into Mach 3 but comes out to be not right. CAD line are all missed placed (in the photos you can see the lines going through my lettering).Another things is the starting cut depth starts at Z0.0850 and gradually goes down to my desired cut depth which is Z-0.0150. I want it to go to the safe rapid height and plunge down to my cut depth, then cut. not gradually go and cut to my set depth.

I hope this makes sense :|

any sense to why this is happening? when we first got the new controller box and stepper motors and UC100 USB adapter, it all worked and I was using it just fine.

any help is VERY VERY appreciated!
sorry if I sound like a newb... we all start somewhere

Hi ArtSoft Community!

Im having a little mishap. I uninstalled Mach 3 and reinstalled it hoping it would fix a little problem I was having. It then led me to another little road block...

When I Load in a G-code into mach 3 and cycle start, it loads a codes and starts at Z0.0370 and gradually cuts to my set start and cut depth which is Z-0.0130 which I preset in lazy cam.

Ive attached a photo below circling the code in the log and 3D view of my CAD in the screen viewer. it also shows the line the goes downward...

Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!!!
Thank you

thanks for this! im using lazy cam at the moment and thats where I found how to input plunge speed, cutting speed and all the other variables for cutting..
which would you prefer? lazy cam or cambam? im just getting familiar with lazy cam but its still a little confusing as far as terminology goes... layers, chains, etc...
any suggestions?

General Mach Discussion / Mach 3 Cut and travel seeds question
« on: October 15, 2018, 06:56:51 PM »
Hello everybody!

I recently changed over to using mach 3 from using supercam xp with my micro mill by taig tools.
This has been within the past 2 months that I've switched out the Motors from servo to stepper and learning the new cnc program, mach3.

The thing that I'm running into that im having a hard to figuring out is cut and travel speeds...
in supercam I had the option of changing the speed and which axis Z cut into the metal and then started the cutting of X and Y.
also had the option of changing to speed and which the travel speed from chain to chain(point of start cut) traveled at.
also had the option of changing the height that Z axis moved to above the surface of material when traveling from point to point...

Im cutting very small engraving designs in gold and silver with .010 engraving bits so normally run and slower speeds like .008-.010.

wondering how I can go about inputting any of these options into mach3 as im very new to this program...
any help is greatly appreciated

I've attached a photo of the speeds and slews of what I've inputted into supercam ( the old cam software I've used before )
