General Mach Discussion / Re: MPG's wanted

Graham,

I sell the Micronor MPG's, the same type that Fanuc and many of the OEM's use.

Louis,

I ran it here 5 or 6 times and it ran perfectly. I'm using a closed loop system with encoders on this "HobbyCNC" board and if the stepper went elsewhere the interface would halt all motion even if the toolpath didn't reflect it. Anyways, the only thing that I can see is where the F value is entered. F values are usually entered at the end of the string. If you zoom in on the path that is Z- to feed into the part and rotate the path dynamically it looks like the path is a G1 and G0 together (blue line and red dashed line when rotated). That might be causing the trouble. At any rate, it ran perfectly fine here.

Louis,

I have that same controller except it's positon monitored with encoders. If you want me to check the file, I'd be happy to do so.

Dave,

I see alot of folks worry around with an old PC and hardware and some wind up having a system that is marginal or not capable at all. Dell sells the dimension 2400 (2.4 Ghz celery-on) with XP OS installed for $299 delivered and it will run the heck out of Mach3 with a very smooth pulse train. It seems the dual processor boards and laptops are generally not very tolerant of having their timing taken over as Mach does.

P.S. Fryes sells an Athlon (I think) for $159 with no OS that is capable also.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Using machine PC to run other stuff
« on: November 10, 2005, 08:57:34 PM »
I minimize Mach3 and run Bobcad on the same PC. I never run anything while MAch is open and running. Never had any issues doing that. My son once when I wasn't paying attention was playing solitaire while the machine was running, it didn't effect the machine any. Definitely not something one should do.

General Mach Discussion / Re: single block
« on: November 10, 2005, 08:46:54 PM »
Not sure, but this sounds like maybe a noise issue or something running in the background and glitching Mach. I had MAch2 do that one time only. It was on single block, middle of a program and it just proceeded the next block all on it's own. I stripped the PC of all the VIrus software etc. and it never happened again. Quick-time movie player is one of the worst to interfere. Get rid of all that stuff if you have it. Get the optimisation.txt from the Mach yahoo usergroup files.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Motion Mode??
« on: November 06, 2005, 09:54:09 PM »
Constant velocity and exact stop mode are settings to control the type of motion performed by the machine. Constant velecity means exactly what it says, it seemlessly issues movement commands and the machine maintains a constant speed dictated by the feed setting. Through all moves regardless of the direction. Exact stop mode will stop the machine on every block of code to ascertain that the move was carried out correctly. Reasons for using this would be a machine with low acceleration or being overdriven allowing one axis at a corner to take off before the other has completed it's traverse thereby rounding the corner rather than executing a move that produces a sharp corner.

General Mach Discussion / Re: MACH 2 Question / Help

In Mach3's Config/State Change the IJ mode to absolute instead of incremental. That setting usually causes that error message. Remember, You can only import lines and arcs from a DXF. No TTF fonts.

General Mach Discussion / Calibrating an MPG
« on: October 26, 2005, 08:17:31 PM »
Art,

Calibrated an MPG with calibration under config and its not 1:1 with the DRO. It's very close on one full revolution. It's a Micronor 100 count per rev MPG. Is this just how they are? It's always withen like 3 or 4 tenths.

Thanks, Ron

Another pic of it
