General Mach Discussion / Re: China CNC Zone 6040z USB

Update, 4 hours of digging around last night paid off as I finally found the problem with the spindle.
1st Using the Mach3 Motion Control Card MKK-IV the wiring is different than in the "CNC 6040 - Programming / Wiring the 'NOWFOREVER' VFD," I still had to program the VFD to accept commands from Mach3 but otherwise the wiring is different. I can try to explain more if someone needs PM me.

I still have not got the limit switches working, this is my next issue to accomplish, however I am making dust with it now so that is a vast improvement.

OK to update...
Issue 2 fixed - there was a checked box that was easy to uncheck.
Issue 4 fixed - The guy I bought it from had the pump sitting out in his shop for a few months so it was full of dust... took it apart and cleaned and re-lubed... works ok now... just LOUD, will replace soon.
Issue 3 LOST....
I have watched the "CNC 6040 - Programming / Wiring the 'NOWFOREVER' VFD" Youtube video... did everything he said re wired it all and made sure the setting are all right. I did not receive a manual with this thing so I am not sure what the manufacturer setting recommend. Here are some screen shots and some pics of what I got right now... let me know if you see anything that is wrong.

Hi all I am Josh, I live in Okinawa, Japan. I am new to CNC bought a little China CNC Zone 6040z USB about a week ago. I am still trying to figure it all out. I currently make shadow boxes and the like for military and some small odds and ends projects for some Okinawan friends and trying to expand.

I am running Mach3 to control the CNC and Vectric Aspire to design everything, I have designed a few small projects to get started with, including pre-builds to flatten the spoil board, make the bolt holes, and grid lines... just simple stuff right now and I haven't been able to run any of it yet so... I am excited to get into it.

I found this site and joined because all the useful info that helped me get this far in the setup, and I am sure others will help me complete setup and get running.

Look forward to the journey!

General Mach Discussion / China CNC Zone 6040z USB

Ok so I picked up a China CNC Zone 6040z USB from a guy who couldn't figure it all out and never got it to run... I have gotten it set up loaded the drivers for it the USB to work with Mach3, I followed the ABC's of YOOCNC, which took care of a lot of issues, but still have a few problems I want to flush out before I put it into any material.

1. Limit switches are installed, but don't seem to be working. I set them up according to the Chinese manual and nothing happened, I could jog the machine all day with the switch pushed in (I manually reached in and pushed it). I went back and changed the setting to active low and the machine still ran no problem. This sounds like bad connections or switches to me, Did anyone else have this issue?

2. X and Z axises run the wrong way from the jog controls, Is this as simple as switching the pins in the connector, is the a setting in Mach3 that will fix this or do I need to open the control box and rearrange the cables there?

3. I have not been able to get the spindle to turn on via Mach3, although I haven't really researched how to just turn it on... I tried just running the roadrunner.tap that came with Mach3 to verify the machine was receiving commands etc, and the spindle did not turn on, I tried a few times. I tried it with the switch on and off, and with the run light lit and the Dir light lit on the control box to no avail.

4. I have not completely set up the water pump yet, still need a reservoir but I was looking around in Mach3 and didn't see a control to automatically turn it on, is there a way to have the water pump come on when the spindle starts up or is that always going to be a manual thing?

I am already looking at upgrading to the Gekko Drive G540, but I want get it working and do some small stuff till I can save up the money and so I can learn more before I do. I want to make sure I am getting the right Gekko drive, and PCI card to go with it.... any pointers in this area would be nice too...

I have only been working on this for about a week, so not too long, and I am still going through all the websites... There is just so much info I am hoping someone who has gone through these problems will be able to help me out. I will be interested in seeing how others have solved these issues. And I plan on putting trying to put together all the steps I did to get it working for others.

I will take some screen shots tonight when I get home for all those who want to know the specific settings.

Thanks!

Sabre,
I am in the same boat... I picked up a chinacnczone 6040z second hand (brand new never used, the guy couldn't figure it out). I finally loaded the drivers to get it to work USB with Mach3, but the x and z both move in the wrong direction in relation to which key is pressed.... and the spindle is not turning on.

Did you ever get yours worked out?
