General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach 3 installation
« on: August 14, 2017, 05:06:31 PM »
I went to these guys for help with Mach3, albeit they didn't reply (I only sent one email and haven't chased them).  http://www.routoutcnc.com
Based in Leicestershire.  Maybe give them a try

***Sorry - I meant to say***

However - on my previous PC  which had WIN10, when installing as Administrator the reverse would happen, I would get the 'digit 8' cuts and when installing normally the cuts would be perfect.

Hi,  I've decided to go with Windows 7 Pro as windows 10 is garbage and there's not a lot of support in regards to Win10 with Mach3 issues.

Anyway, I installed Mach 3 and was having a lot of problems (as usual) when cutting circular pockets to fit currency.  The pockets would cut at the diameter and the depth required but 80% of the pockets would overlap creating what looked like the digit 8.  Mach3 would show the path correctly but the cutting came out as described

I then uninstalled Mach 3 and ran the installation as an administrator.  Voila!  The pockets cut in the correct places.

However - on my previous PC  which had WIN10 I could install the file as normal (not installing as an Administrator) and I would get the cuts bang on.

Does anyone know why this is?

General Mach Discussion / Re: Jobs being Ruined (only just started)

just a thought, you might be retaining an offset or other code when the job has finished. This carries over to the next component. by shutting down your computer and machine you cancel all previous codes and reset all positions so all will be correct. make sure all your subroutines are cancelled at the end of the program as they sometimes carry over to your next component.

How would I cancel a subroutine?  I think something somewhere is carrying over to my next job and I'm still no closer to figuring it out.

Thanks again

Update: After my last post, I shut down - turned everything off, but Because I'm not able to sit still, I went back out to the shed to run another test piece at 9P.M  ::)

It's now running how it should.  Lettering in the correct places, not tried the pockets as I'll get moaned at but I'll give that a go tomorrow.

So has anyone heard of resolving a problem by shutting everything down and rebooting Laptop and starting back up?  This lettering job is all of 6 minutes and I have in the past ran a whole day with no problems.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I'm having some problems with I assume Mach3 - I also use Vcarve pro

I run 2 sets of code - one for the lettering and one for holes that fit currency in and have worked up until very recently.  Yes I do a tool swap which has worked up until today.

Please see the images attached.  The coloured image is the finished product and the none coloured ones - the star and the 'word' done are supposed to be at the bottom of the MDF.

Throughout the day I have been binning jobs and I'm at a loss as to why.

Can anyone help?

I never knew that option ever existed.  I'm an ex PC user now using mac.

But I will take a look and report.

I wish it was but all power saving features are set to never and is plugged in when running. It's intermittent so could be 10 minutes, could be 50....it's never the same.

Hi, I'm hoping someone will be able to help.

So my problem is, I create and load my gcode into mach 3 with no problems and intermittently my laptop screen will go black half way through a job with no way to exit, but the spindle is still rotating.  The only way I can start over is to press and hold the power button - this leaves me with..... reloading mach 3 and either manually zero to a point or start again.

Yesterday I managed to do a few jobs and on the last job of the day, it crashed....luckily the job was only a few lines away from being completed.

Please does anyone have any ideas as I'm losing a lot of work.
