I know MODBUS and how it works.  What I am asking for is more information about how MACH uses MODBUS and how to take the DRO value and send it to a register in the MODBUS.  Take a look at page 33 of the Scripting Manual in your Documents folder.    The document ENDS with the heading for section "5.7 Modbus". 

It's like AttSoft just said: "WTF, this is too hard, lets just let the user figure it out."  Is it really too much to ask for the document to be finished?  Is it a quality product if the documentation just ends mid sentence?

I am in need of information about programming the MODBUS.  I am unable to find documentation or examples that would allow me to setup a separate DRO on the machine that is connected to my MACH 4 computer via MODBUS.  The scripting manual ends at section 5.7 called MODBUS with no detail.  I have found some info but most is in German and I don't speak German.

I just want to update a Write parameter on the MODBUS DRO display whenever the XYZ and RPM values change on the MACH 4 screen.

If anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be very much appreciated.

So, I completely reloaded Mach 4 in a new folder and it seems to be working now.  I was able to copy all the configuration over and got it running.  What a pain it is to upgrade.  Is there a technical note that I don't know about that lets you easily install a new release and not have to completely rebuild all your scripts macros and configuration?

Yes, it jogs just fine.  It is like mach is just not interpreting the G-Code properly.

So, I upgraded Mach4 Hobby Lathe from what I think was version 4358 and now there is no motion of the Z axis when running a toolpath.  Also the toolpath display doesn't seem to move the Z Axis.  The GCode was created using Fusion 360 using the Mach4 lathe post processor.  No different than what has worked in the past.  Also, the reason I upgraded was because my Ethernet Smooth Stepper had to be upgraded and it wanted at least Mach4 V4435. 

I have attached the 3 files of a screen shot of the toolpath for both version and the G-Code.

I have downloaded every version from the FTP site and none of them will move the Z Axis.  The only one that works is 4300 ant it is too old for the ESS.

What to do?

That folder does not exist in my installation.  I have the latest build 4162.  It is just not there.  There are other examples, but nothing for the tool change script.

I am setting up a CNC lathe.  In the online videos teaching how to use tool offsets the T0101 command invokes a script that changes the current offset and sets the current tool number.  When I loaded Mach 4, there is no tool change script.  Am I going to have to write my own script just to set the current tool number?  Shouldn't the script that is displayed in the training videos be included in the Mach installation?
