Well it looks like my serial adaptor crapped out. Replaced it with one of another machine and everything works fine.

Hello has anyone had an issue where the plugin can't communicate with the VFD after almost a year of working flawlessly? I came in to the machine today and the plugin could not communicate with the VFD ("unable to read value") the serial adaptor shows up in Win10 devices, The VFD works manually, the wires test positive for continuity. I haven't changed anything. I am at a bit of a loss.

Well increasing motor acceleration helped up until the table started shaking (damn you extrusion) along with lowering the feed rate. I am still getting some small ears but they are much reduced. Seems a bit strange though I have done lots of engraving on my much cheaper ballscrew machine and haven't noticed anything like this before.

General Mach Discussion / Engrave/V-Carve Toolpaths overcutting corners
« on: February 04, 2019, 08:53:24 PM »
Hi All I am running a CNCRouterparts 5x10, it's my second cnc router. I am trying to do an engrave toolpath inside a square with a 1/2" 60 degree V-bit but when the bit comes to do the corner pass where it drags up to square the corner it is slightly over cutting the corner which gives me a little flare on the profile. I have tried slowing the feeds, zeroing on top and at the bottom of the wprkpiece, lowering the acceleration curves of the motors, playing with CV on/off and different CV angles as well as outputting g-code from Fusion360 and Vectric. The F360 files were slightly less pronounced but still happened. Does anyone know what might be causing this? I am at a loss.

« on: January 10, 2019, 07:55:53 PM »
Hi has anyone used the royaumedeole VFD plug in under Windows 10? Did you need to do anything special to get it working?

Thanks

Luke

I bought a dual core ex point of service machine with 4 gig RAM and Win 7 off craigslist for $60CAD, has been running my CNC with mach 3 for almost a year now quite nicely.

I haven't been milling PCBs but I have been doing some very shallow engravings in thin brass and they work out great, also using a vac table. That Autoleveller software looks pretty great I'd like to try it out. Mostly I work in wood so it doesn't apply much.
