Mach3 under Vista / Re: another ref all home problem

Was directed to the drop down menu of the NcUSBpod in the Plug Ins menu. A bit counter-intuitive for me I was stuck in the homing and limits box. Which is where it would logically be. But it looks as though the detection and backing off from the limit switch is looked after by the USB to parallel software. You can dial up the amount and direction of back off once the switch is detected.

I was about to give up on the hardware/software the came with the 6040 kit from a Noname brand in China and go for a UC100 and  Gecko 540. I presume the plug in software for the UC100 will be similar and that's where you'd go to set up the homing switch direction and back off?  The UC100 and Gecko 540 is the standard with the best product support is it?

A bit of progress, ref all home is now going through X,Y and Z axis. I don't know what has changed, but I might have had two setups, ( fixtures do you call them?) Only trouble is that once the home switch is detected, the motors pause , but the  Z and X axis don't reverse to back off, they just go through the switch another 5 mm or so, set zero and then move on to the next axis. If I reverse the homing direction of X and Z everything is OK. i.e.. they back off in the reverse direction,  But that's not really a fix. I'm just altering where I home to suit. I'd rather zero Z at the bottom of the stroke.

Is there any setting to reverse the back off from switch direction? I'd think it should automatically be the reverse of the zeroing direction?

Thanks Gerry but no luck there . Set it to 5000 * 40 microseconds = 0.2 of a second! That's enough time to bounce a basket ball! But still stalls on "Home switch triggered" with no attempt to back off the switch.

Thanks Gerry

Definitely a "Home switch triggered" message. I only have "Z home" activated not the Z++ and Z--. If I initiate "reference all home" with Z++ and Z-- activated (they share the one microswitch). I do get a "Limit switch triggered " message.  At this stage I cannot straight away jog off the micro switch. If I hit the "reset" button the message changes to "Home switch triggered" and I can jog.

I have had "Debounce" and "Index debounce" set to 1000X40 micro seconds.

When I had it working previously I only had the "Z home" active. I would assume the limit switch active condition would have priority over a home switch active, so in the case of only one microswitch at each travel limit the ++ and -- limits would have to be disengaged?

I am suspecting a software setting rather than hardware. The software obviously recognises the home switch triggering but stalls before moving back off the switch or zeroing the machine co-ords. Driving me crazy. No doubt the solution will be obvious once I've found it.

Mach3 under Vista / another ref all home problem

My "reference all home" starts OK, the Z axis moves down to the micro switch, stops, a "Home switch triggered" message comes up and that's it. No more action. I had this exact problem previously when using another PC which has now expired. The problem was there for a while and then magically corrected itself. Or maybe I stumbled across the working combination of settings. I have reloaded Mach3 on a replacement PC.

With the "Home switch triggered" message up I can jog off the switch, the yellow indicator on the diagnostic page goes out, but the "Home switch triggered" message remains. I have to hit the reset button twice before "ref all home" will start again to repeat that one movement. I've checked everything I can think of. I used screen shots of my last working system to get "Ports and pins" and the "Homing and limits" settings the same.  Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
