General Mach Discussion / Re: UC300-5LPT port problem
« on: October 09, 2021, 03:27:15 AM »
ISSUE SOLVED.
The LPT5 unit works on port 1,2,3 whereas 4 and 5 were not tested. Plugin version 1.022
The smoking gun:  one of the C11G BoB cannot communicate with the motion controller, for unknown reasons.  The inputs of that board “see” status change and all LED indicators tell the user that the board appears functional and connected. There must be an internal broken link.  Enjoy your WE.

UP-DATE making a too long story somehow shorter:

On a UC300-5LPT board, using UC300ETH V1.020 plugins, ports 1,2 can be used. Port 3 remains inaccessible.
Result obtained by swapping working HW from port to port and re-configuring Mach3 accordingly.

I'm questioning a HW failure, since ports 1 and 2 on the LPT5 are operational. Enjoy your day.

I'm not familiar with your HW, but why do you assign all four pins, 0,1,2 and 5 to DIFFERENT ports ? Naively, I would expect to route these signals trough one or maybe two two different ports but certainly not five.

General Mach Discussion / Re: New Windows 7 PC build and Mach3 moves slow
« on: October 04, 2021, 01:53:38 PM »
if you issue the command G01 X1 F4, does it perform the 1 inch move 4 times as fast ? and precisely at the speed you would need ?
if so, could it be a silly workaround ?

General Mach Discussion / UC300-5LPT port problem
« on: October 04, 2021, 05:25:28 AM »
On a functional 4 axis rig, the UC300-USB was removed and replaced by a UC300-ETH, on a UC300-5LPT board.
UC300 plugin version v1.020, Mach 3 version X.066, running on Win 7, 64 bits.
One C11G BoB from Arturo (CNC4PC) connected on physical port 2 of UC300-5LPT. All pins assigned to "port 2" in Mach3 menu Config / PortPins: works flawlessly.

Connected second C11G on physical port 3 of UC300-5LPT, and assigned pins to "port 3" accordingly in Mach 3  No success.

One Wizard (thank you again Gerry) in this forum and the manufacturer of the UC300 board could not help.

The second C11G card is brand new, and wired in a similar way as the first one.

Sending a signal that makes its way through "port 2" in Mach 3 to "port 3" and connecting the original working C11G card to the appropriate physical port 3 on the LPT5 board fails. This seems to indicate that port 3 on the LPT cannot be addressed.

The alternative test, taking one pin along the "port 2" route and assigning it to "port 3" in Mach 3, makes this pin unavailable. Thus Mach 3 makes a difference between "port 2" and "port 3", regardless of the actual route beyond.

How can one port only on the LPT5 be defective ?   (cable tested to be OK)

Has anyone another idea ?

Enjoy your week, Philippe

PS: the monitoring window of the UC300 plugin reflects the exact observations made trough the whole controls chain.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Cannot open Motor tuning
« on: September 30, 2021, 07:45:32 AM »
Cannot open Motor tuning after a change from UC300 USB to UC300 ETH on the 5LPT board.

Everything runs smoothly, except that access to the Config/Motor tuning/ menu (Win 7 pro, Mach 3 v066) is not possible anymore.
Sure, a re-install of Mach3, a suggested above, is possible but an explanation would be better.

Howdy,

perhaps this is what you have
https://www.joom.com/en/products/5bfbc1b428fc710101565b38

did the board come with a software driver ?
there is a need to tell Mach3 “where” to send the information it generates.
this job is done by a so called “driver” that needs to be installed.

I do not know more about your specific board, however. Good luck, Philippe

Here you go: Mach 3.043.066 and wizards 2.86 running on Win 7 Pro (not enterprise)
Glad you can edit all files generated by the wizards.
Enjoy your day, Philippe

Matt, this behavior indicates some sort of bug/flaw. No sure "where" to look, however. FYI on a machine running a Win7 Corporate operating system I was capable to read / edit every file generated by the wizards. When I left this company, I had to erase the corporate Win 7 installation and replace it by my own Win 7 Pro license. Since, editing the files generated by the wizards is not possible anymore.

Mach3 is no longer supported. Perhaps if asking politely, you can get ahold of the code of this wizard and dig into the details and identify the problem.

Cheers, Philippe

Matt, as discussed this morning, I cannot reproduce the strange behavior you observe. I have also tried with the gear cut wizard, as you asked me to do.

Have you actually used (i.e. pressed the calc button), one page before you reach the actual gear size and cut dimensions, the speed and feed calculation available ?
I have done so, obtain for my example a feed opf 240.1 mm/min which is nicely transported into the index.tap file.

Enjoy your evening, Philippe
