Thanks for the reply, I downloaded that file but wa unable to open it, I unzipped it tried to open it and my computer says it does not support that format, so as I only know how to type within a programme, thats it. but thanks anyway, I am trying to find someone living near me that can not only sort it out but show me how to use Mach 3 and this machine. I have a problem with reading and trying to watch video clips in that i fall asleep, however once shown I am ok.

I have just bought a China CNC 6040 and have gotten all of the axis to move, but can't get the spindle to run. Does anyone know what the settings are suppose to be in Mach3 along with the pins on these chinese models. I got the limit switches to work, axis, and auto tool zero, but can't get the spindle to turn via mach3. It does turn on with it set to the controller via the run button and the potentiometer. Would greatly appreciate it if anyone has these settings or knows what to do.

Thanks,
Kelly

I have the same problem and was advised to look at that clip, however as of yet I have not managed to see it all as I fall asleep watching it, it is an age thing, so I will probably give up and use manual control, however you say you have the limit switches working, did you fit these yourselve, as I have a 6040z and can not see any limit switches or wiring for the same.

Hello all Good news I have got the axis motors moving via the programme, it was indeed the G oh I was typing instead of the G 0 so that is good, as for the controller it is the black box type. As for making wiring changes cor blimey that may be beyond me, according to the set up instruction sheet I should be able to Jog the motor and switch the coolant pump on from mach 3 but I cant I will watch the video clip but it will have to wait as I am getting loaded for our BSA owners club summer camp this weekend so I will be away.
As for the e stop button when I press it on the black box the machine stops dead, but when I click on screen nothing happens so I may have to unable the low switch, I will play around next week
Thanks for your replies.
If anyone wants to call in to Minety to sort it then feel free to do so, tea and cake awaits

Just to say I did post on the intro page but do not know if I did it correctly, anyway I have spent the last two days trying to set up the mach 3 programme to the 6040z machine, I have been following a Mach 3 tutorial I downloaded,
I enabled X Y & Z axis to pins 2 through to 7I can move the x y and z axis motors from the keyboard and the buttons on the screen, I had an issue with direction but unchecked two of the step low's in the pin configs.I set the E button as per port 1 pin 13 and that is ok. I set the axis step motors in the motor tune section all ok there, then to the MDI screen and input GO x10 y10 z10 pressed enter and  nothing!following on I made sure the jog led was green, set up the jog speed all ok there. next the charge pump was enabled onto port 1 pin 1 as per instruction, then I enabled the spindle motor to port 1 pin 16 then enabled the active low, then went to spindle set up tab, unchecked the disable spindle relay, and put 1 in both the cw and ccw boxes, when I then used the diagnostic screen made sure the E stop was not active then clicked the spindle toggle button the led next to output 1 was flashing but no spindle movement. I cannot get the spindle to work from the programme, I can use the controller to manually make it work so I guess that rules out the motor and controller being at fault, I have tried to re-configure the spindle motor onto different pins i.e. 15, 16, 17 but still no joy, can anyone help
Thanks
Richard

Hi I am a retired 67 year old and enjoy working with my hands, I carve stick heads and knock up simple projects like bird and bug boxes amongst other things. I have also been riding motorcycles since I was 16, I have been into BSA;s but have owned many different british bikes over the years, at present I have 3 BSA;s a 2003 Triumph T100 as well as a 125 chinese vespa LX lookalike. I have just purchased a 6040 CNC 4 axis milling machine hopefully to run on Mach 3. at present the Y and the z axis go in the wrong direction and the spindle motor will not run on the test on the setup instructions. I am going to have another go later but any help would be appreciated. I live near Malmesbury in Wiltshire UK and it would be great if anyone living nearby with Mach 3 experience could help me as I am not brilliant understanding computor set up instructions but I am ok once shown
