Mach4 General Discussion / x-Carve Arduino USB w/GShield
« on: December 02, 2015, 12:35:38 PM »
Hey all,

Been on a fun ride this last month, building a CNC, learning Fusion360, Scrapping together a design and then i'm ready to test.  Well, I couldn't get Mach4 to connect to my CNC... I didn't see anything that says Serial port connection.. A little bit of a look around the forums here, and there were only a few recent posts about this.. maybe something about an LUA script, there may at one time been a VB script for Mach3.

I thought I'd ask for a definitive 'As a Newbie' question.

Is there any support for the GShield/Arduino/USB connection type CNC Machines, or is there something I need to modify to get it to work with it.

Thanks.

Hey folks, my name is Doc, but DocNasty was my radio personality for years and years.  Anyways, I just picked up an xCarve from Inventables, but I really want to get Mach4 figured out for some projects i'm working on.

Anyways, I don't know how much i'll be here, but I do want to show my support, and figure out the software.  I'm a software developer by trade.  VB, C#, C++, etc..  I have a 3D printer, so i'm familiar with GCode.  I just need to figure out how to get started with Mach4, and hopefully not much has changed since the original videos came out many years ago.

Hopefully if all goes well, i'll have some great stuff to brag about.  Until then, i'm looking for how to generate the GCode, etc.. and how this whole thing works.
