I sorted the public video settings, it should be open to view..

The Z axis is still going in the wrong direction when referencing though.

General Mach Discussion / Newbie help setup for CNC 6040Z USB2.0 port
« on: July 25, 2015, 05:48:29 AM »
Hi All,

I have a new 6040Z machine I purchased off Aliexpress. It is a newer machine, that has the usb port only.

I have purchased Mach3 and have used some of the script ('porbe') and a plugin called NcUsbPod.dll that the Chinese supplier sent me.

I am following the tutorials as best as I can, though much of the parallel port info is not applicable to me.

I am up to Homing, Limits and Offsets. I have wired in limit switches, and now I am trying to set the machine coordinates. When I hit 'reference all home', my Z axis moves downwards (in the negative direction). From the tutorial, it seems it should home upwards.

Also when I manually trigger the limit switch, it all shuts down, rather than visit the next home switch.

Thanks for checking out my problem!

Hi All,

I'm from Perth, WA, I've just started on my CNC journey.. Bought 6040 from China. It's a USB only machine.

I am a complete beginner and I want to buy a licence (it was supplied with a crack).. Am I better off sticking with Mach3 as there is far more info out there? Or upgrade to Mach4?

I have an old computer running it that won't load the Mach4 demo, or any of the XP updates. But it is running the pirate copy of Mach3 ok (although the Z axis is upside down and I can't get it to reference home lol)

Should I buy a new computer and Mach4? OR just stick with what I have and get a licence for Mach3?

Where is the best place to ask setup questions once I do get a Mach3/4?

Thanks,
