Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / Re: PowerFeed XY
« on: May 21, 2016, 01:54:07 PM »
Hi Referring to the comments about extra buttons.

I would like to see to additional check boxes, on for x and Y , so when on, and  one them was checked,  the system would automatically track back and forward  in the x or y axix.

While this was running , You could then click on the x or y offset to say add .1 mm etc to create slots, automatically etc. etc

Cheers

Mark

Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / Re: PowerFeed XY

Hi Have just used the powerfeed add  in for the first time.

Most features seem to be working ok, apart from feed hold ( space Bar) , which appears to do nothing , even when running a feed cycle from one location to another.

also when i press the tab key , a black screen about 3 inches wide opens up on the right . I presume this should be the jog screen.

The system is licenced correctly and shows version 1.1 I an using mach3 v R3.043.066

any ideas ?

Sorry I meant to say :-

set the clearance to zero and
half the tapper angle for the jacobs chuck.

Thanks for all your help.

The taper is for a Jacobs chuck.

Summing up , i am a bit confused from the  reply's

Do i only need to change the clearance to zero , or also change the angle to ?

Cheers

Hi,

I have just turned a JT2 taper with mach3's taper turning wizard, unfortunately the angle is not correct and I don't know why.

If you look at the finishing cut , this is incorrect to.
My machine is set to work in mm.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong ?

 X end +12.39 , Angle +2.335 , X Start 14.2 , Z End -22.23 , Z START +0.0 , Clearance 1.0

roughing feed rate +100 , Roughing depth +0.1 , Finish Feed rate +50 , Finish Depth +.05

The final finish cut Gcode also looks wrong

F50
G1 X12.3084
G1X14.2029 Z-22.23
G0 X16.2
M5

The spec for the JT2 taper is :- small end 12.39 mm, big end 14.2 mm,  Angle  2.335

General Mach Discussion / HB04 MPG - Mach3 Detent calibration
« on: February 14, 2016, 12:17:06 PM »
Hi Everyone,

I have a wireless HB04  Mpg working with Mach3.
When I move the hand wheel 1 detent it moves the Dro's more than the specified amount in the Jog setting.
Is there any way to calibrate the wheel? or have I got something else wrong?

E.g  if I move 1 detenton the handwheel, with the jog set to .1 it moves the Dro .1016

All help Gratefully received

Newfangled Mill Wizard / Countersink Option
« on: January 18, 2016, 04:39:23 AM »
Hi Ron,

It would be good if the hole wizards also included the ability to do countersink holes.

e.g set the countersink angle , and top diameter , then the system did the rest.

Kind regards

Mark

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Mach4 Printer Port Discussions

Hi Art,

Yes the jog within Darwin is smooth.

Tried it at all speed and it works fine.

So its something to do with m4 that's causing the jumpynes.

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Mach4 Printer Port Discussions
« on: January 12, 2016, 03:30:02 PM »
Hi Art,

just completed a lot more testing.

Compared to Mach3 , M4 is very rough on long moves.

If i jog off a zero position , then do a return to zero ,it moans and groans, and splutters occasionally.

Despite this it does not seem to run off position , as far as a i can tell.

Spent a lot of time changing the motor settings, ( velocity and acceleration) the settings I have are the smoothest and seem to match the Mach3 setting which is realy smooth.

Enclosed are the settings of the two systems, not sure what to make of them.

Have set mach3 up with a digital vernier and getting accurate repeatable smooth moves.

Also tried changing the signal delay. Interestingly m4 seems to need less delay, and does not run as well with 5 ms

Can anyone else on the web share their results of a m3 M4 compare?

Regards

Mark

Hi Art,

I tried inverting the step signal as you suggested.
When I do this i do not get any motion, only a little grinding noise as experienced above in the previous post.

so I assume the settings are ok.

Would you like me to record the sound of the motor on mach3 and mach4 so you ca  hear the difference?

I will lookup the steps per mm for you tonight.
