General Mach Discussion / M03 will not turn spindle on
« on: December 15, 2018, 08:00:09 PM »
Hi all,
I have little MIB2030 CNC router with 500W DC spindle that is PWM controlled. I managed to set everything up except one issue I have - the G-code will not turn the spindle on. Yet I can turn the spindle and control the RPM with the spindle button in MACH3. When I type S12000 in the MDI screen, I see that the speed gets setup properly in the SPINDLE SPEED WINDOW.  Then I type M03 and nothing happens.
I also tried "M03 S12000" on a single line and still no success. Yes as I mentioned, if I press the spindle button in the MACH3, the spindle starts every time.
what am I missing?
Thank you for your help...

Thank you John,
So far I have extremely good impressions about the quality, accuracy and repeatability of this little machine. I have to be honest, I live in a condo, so I have not cut anything yet, waiting to get the machine to my boat first. But  had little pen modified and used the little CNC as a plotter. I could sweep along all axis left to right, front to back many times with high speed then redraw the object at the exactly same place right over the previous drawing.

I ALWAYS wanted one of these. Long time ago I bought steppers and controller board to make one myself but I was preoccupied working on my boat after my 8 1/2 hours at work, so the "Make CNC"  went in the never land...
Now my boat is in great shape and I cruised it down to Mexico last year where I will have more time for other things.
So I figure - what the heck for 900 bucks - and I bought this little machine :) what i like about it is that i can upgrade to 4 or 5 axis, and 3D printer too. But first I need to gain some experience, see if i like it or not and then go after upgrades.
I will be interested into your project with the drivers too. I already opened the controller, and the drivers are on daughter cards, which makes for great upgradability!
In a mean time my next challenge will be to disassemble it and transport down south to Mexico... Not quite clear how yet..  and not quite sure if by doing that if I would screw up any alighments too..
Take care

Hi,

took me few days, but finally I manage to configure the MIB 3020 machine with JY5300-2 and MHC2. Everything is working great, except the control of the machine from the MHC2 wheel, when the controller is in PC mode with MAch3 running. The readings between the DRO on the MAch3 screen and the MHC2 are synchronized, which (I think) means the modbus communication is working.
when I jog from keyboard, both DROs (pc and pendant) update.
If in Mach3 interface I go to MPG mode with TAB button, I can work the motors with the computer keyboard, but not with the wheel on MHC2.
When I go to MPG mod CAL, I can see that numbers update when i rotate the wheel om MHC2.
It also appears, that the MPG mode is disabled as fro the JOG Mode button i can only toggle between "Cont" and "Step" and the "MPG" stays off (dark).
maybe that's my problem? is there somewhere in the MACH3 setup where it needs to be turned on?

Here is my setup:

Here is the Manual for Jy5300-2 and MHC2:

I followed the instructions, starting from scratch few times, but I'm obviously missing something or there is an error in the documentation.
needless to say, I copied and enabled the brain file and did everything the manufacturer lists in the manual.
I suspect its something simple, but where is it?
Where did i screw up?

Thank you in advance!

General Mach Discussion / Re: MPG mode - how to set???
« on: December 03, 2014, 01:07:03 AM »
Hey, Brian,
I have the exact same problem in Mach3
here is what happens:
Here is what happens: I can jog using the arrow keys but when I try to toggle to MPG mode (cntrl-J or pressing the onscreen button) only the INCR and CONT.  leds toggle.  I assume I should be seeing the MPG led turn on.

Also if I try to toggle the MPG axis nothing happens there either.  I did check that the MPG is sending signals by mapping the inputs to some dummy inputs and observing the leds toggle on the diagnostic screen.  So I know the signals are getting to Mach2.

Is there some setting somewhere that I need to set to enable MPG mode?

see also my other posting for more information: http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php?topic=28531.0
Thanks
