General Mach Discussion / Re: Multiple G-Codes on Mach3

I've just found the wonder of pocket allowance! However, the question still stands about multiple codes!

General Mach Discussion / Multiple G-Codes on Mach3
« on: May 01, 2014, 07:07:56 AM »
Can I load and run multiple G-Code files into Mach3? I need to profile a hole then pocket finish it to 19mm but can't see any way to program that in V Carve. I tried 2 different toolpaths, setting the pocket cut with a 5.5mm cutter and then the profile to a 5mm cutter (which is it's size) but post processor I use (Mach2/3 Arcs (mm)) doesn't let me use multiple 'tools'. So I can generate as single G-Code files but I can't see any way to load multiple files?

Ok thanks for taking the time to reply guys. I suppose the question based on those answers is, how complex is the installation of limit switches and what would be the best/easiet set to install?

Long term I'll be looking into it more and more but at the moment I'm just getting the bare essentials to start it running on an upcoming job. To be honest I've pretty much got it sussed as I've got VCarve and Mach3 working fine and have machined some basic stuff. I just need to get a jig sorted and we've ordered a few bits to get the zeroes on the x and y. I think for the moment I can make sure I send to zero on all axis before I power down and even if I shutdown incorrectly to be fair it won't take TOO much effort to zero it again.

As I progress naturally I want to make it as easy as possible.

General Mach Discussion / New RoutOutCNC

Hi guys, so I'm getting to grips with my new RoutOut CNC and I was wondering if you guys could help. I'm hoping I ask the questions in the correct order!

First off, the machine co-ords reset everytime I turn Mach3 off, is there any way for the software to stick with the same co-ords? The machine won't be moved unless Mach3 is on and running.

When the machine hits a physical limit Mach3 thinks it is still moving and so the co-ords keep going. I'm guessing this is cured by soft limits?

We're going to be using a jig to repetitively produce high volumes of machined plastic plates. For example we're machining 5 different plates, 100 of each and then in 6 months time will do similar amounts again (different designs to previous) for this size of plate. So I for speed I need to set the job zero off of the machine co-ords that I establish.

Lastly, how do I send the machine to 0,0,0? How do I send it to specific co-ords?

Sorry should add to that, they would not accept that they supplied the disk (admitted they hadn't actually supplied any kind of license to us in the first place). To be fair I would think they wouldn't supply it but who knows what happened.

Hi Tweakie,

I've spoken to RoutOut and they've sent a new license file. They (naturally) explained that they don't supply illegal copies and that they buy bulk licenses.

This was charged at an additional cost (as far as I remember). As soon as I've spoken to them and gotten an answer I'll post back here with the results. You never know they could end up on the wall of shame! We originally didn't order it and did so at a later stage if I remember right.

Yes http://www.routoutcnc.com/ and they've even recently moved to Leicester! (where I am). That 2 week training is probably to complete the move and train new staff.

Indeed. They supplied a CD (burned disc and black marker written on it!) with the software and that license file. Paid for it so they WILL supply a proper file for it on their return! At first I thought it was named that as they'd got a bulk volume license or something.

QQ - why Papa Fabio? Is that the alias of the hacker or something?

I can carry on testing the machine to find suitable speeds and feeds and get comfortable with it for the time being with the 500 code limitation (pocketing/profiles circles!), but this potentially puts us out if we can get setup/speeds sorted but can't run the programs. Annoying.

Spoken to Scott and he's confirmed it's pirated. Just got to wait 2 weeks until Routout come back from their 'training'!
