Mach4 General Discussion / Mach4 - motion steps overflow
« on: March 17, 2016, 07:15:03 PM »
I think my error is when I move 2 axis simultaneously. It would just be nice to know what the error is. My setup doesn't have any issues running on mach3 with the same motor tuning. And it only comes up with the error once I have stopped jogging, not while I'm jogging.

Mach4 General Discussion / Mach4 - motion steps overflow
« on: March 15, 2016, 07:25:16 AM »
Hi,
Is there anyone who can explain the error of motion steps overflow - check motor speed parameters ?
I have a pokeys56u with postep25 drivers. I open up the diagnostics in the pokeys plugin and there doesn't seem to be any issue with the usb connection.
I am running @ 1500 mm/min, I can run mach3 @ 2000 mm/min with the same motor settings.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Brad

General Mach Discussion / Re: Feed rate override encoder delay issue
« on: March 01, 2016, 09:34:58 PM »
Im not familier with the pokeys56u but guessing its another type of smooth stepper?? If so the problem is alot of moves have already been sent by mach and are buffered, have to wait for buffer to be used up before feed override or even feed hold to activate. See this thread i made a week ago about feed hold with smooth stepper: http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,31994.0.html

You might be able to adjust buffer to smaller size maybe?

Thanks mmurray70, I will look into that tonight.
Does anyone know how to check and/or improve the usb signal quality? I know when I was testing mach4 pokeys had a usb test in the plugin and when I was running 2 axis simultaneously it was maxing out. I am already running the usb cables through a powered hub.
Cheers

General Mach Discussion / Feed rate override encoder delay issue
« on: March 01, 2016, 08:39:01 PM »
Hi,
I have setup the trial of mach3 with pokeys56u incl. plugin. My issue is that I have set up a rotary encoder to control the feedrate override and there seems to be a fair delay from encoder movement to physical change in the feedrate. The feed rate % on mach3 changes straight away though. I am using a pokeys56u with PoExtBusOC16CNC and postep 25/30 drivers
I hope someone can help.

Hi,
I have had a search and can't seem to find any info. I have downloaded the trial of both mach3 and mach4 as well as the pokeys plugins.
On Mach3 I was able to map an encoder to control the feed rate override easily, however I can't seem to find a way to do it on Mach4.
Any help would be appreciated,
Cheers
