Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Cutter compensation

No I have received any responses. It has to be something in the Mach software. I have tried the same program on another machine running a different control software and it worked fine.

Mach4 General Discussion / Cutter compensation

If I program to use control for cutter compensation I have a couple of issues. The first is that when the program first starts to run it will drive the z axis below the set Z zero. The second is if I put a diameter in the tool chart it will give an offset error or make mickey mouse ears. I have also tried enter a small value in wear and still get a cutter comp error.

This is the second program I have written with the same issue.

Another problem I had after stopping the program is I entered MDI command of G0X0Y0 and the received an error the cutter comp was still active. So I entered G40 on the first line and the G0X0Y0 on the second line. Pressed cycle start and the x and y axis moved as expected but the z axis also moved to -0.06 which was well below the top of the part (note the spindle was about 2.5" above the part when I pressed cycle start). Good thing there was a hole there already.

What do mean by "override the M3 by yours"? Is there something already in Mach 4 to do this?

Is there a way in the software to not allow an m3 or m4 command if a switch is triggered.  Kinda like a door interlock. I would like an error code or message to pop up if I try to start the spindle. Because we all know without a message we will be standing there scratching our heads wondering why the spindle will not work.

Mach4 General Discussion / Spindle Brake Switch
« on: June 08, 2020, 12:37:03 PM »
HI All,
I am looking for a way to add a switch to my spindle break that will prevent the spindle from starting while it is engage. I have a linear actuator that is manually controlled and if I forget to retract it after a tool change and start the spindle the VFD faults out. I am looking to add a simple limit switch to notify Mach4 whether or not  it is OK for the spindle to start.

How would you add this to Mach4? Would you need a special LUA script or is there something in there already? Maybe like a door interlock type of setting.

Any help would be appreciated.

Stay safe

Jeff

Mach4 Plugins / Re: XHC WB04 plugin

I've now purchased a newer model of the device which will allow me to develop for it. You should see some progress within a month concerning the WHB04B version of the driver. Too bad XHC would not step up to the plate and supply either a driver, or a device so someone else can make a driver.
Any updates on the progress of the driver?

Mach4 General Discussion / Override control hardware
« on: September 14, 2019, 12:17:15 AM »
I am looking to add some override knobs to my Mach 4 for Feed, Spindle rpm, and rapid. Is it better to use an encoder of potentiometer type rotating control. What is the best way to wire it and configure in Mach 4?
I am using ESS, and PMDX-126.

Thanks Jeff

Hi Colten
How is going on the driver for the newer WHB04B.

Thank you all for the help. I ended up redoing the screenset. It goes much faster the second time around.

Thanks for replying. No I don't remember what I was editing when it happened. But I have made a lot of changes. Mach opens fine after I click ok to the error. I am currently working on a computer that is off line. If I saved the screenset and deleted and re installed  Mach would the error go away?
