General Mach Discussion / Install Problem
« on: May 18, 2017, 04:31:40 PM »
I installed Mach3 on my laptop with parallel adapter. It did the parallel port check O.K. When I load the program, the reset flashes and it will not stop when clicked on. It has a message saying External EStop Required. What do I need to do to reset the program?

I installed Mach3 on my Dell Latitude laptop. when I try to run it, I get the blue screen of death and the message: mach3.sys - address fdb9979f base at fdb97000, datestamp 4da33710   Does anyone know what the problem is?

It was positioned that way when I got the machine. I increased the Z travel using a longer support strut.

Hi,
If I do that, I would not be able to use the full travel of the Z axis when machining.

Craig,
I was hoping I could avoid moving the switch, but it is probably the best answer. Thank you.

General Mach Discussion / Homing Question
« on: March 25, 2017, 09:43:40 PM »
My Z home switch location is located about 6 inches below the maximum Z axis travel. Sometimes my program ends with the Z axis stopping above the home position. If I start the machine the next day and I home the Z axis and forget to lower the Z to below the home position, the head travels up to the top until it trips the over travel. Is there a way to offset the Z home position to the top of the travel so this problem will not happen?

If I need a new spindle motor, which one is correct fit for my Syil X3 Mill?

UPDATE:
Today I turned on the machine and the motor started O.K. I let it run for 10 minutes and then pressed the stop spindle button. The DRO light went out and the spindle would not re-start. Out of frustration, I hit the right side of the mill head in the area of the DRO with my hand and the DRO lit up again. I was able to start the spindle and it ran O.K. I turned it off and hit the same area with my hand and the DRO would go off and then come on with a hit to the head. It seems like something is not making good contact in that area and any vibration or jolt cam make the DRO and spindle shut off. I have not opened the head yet. What should I look for as a possible cause in that area?
