General Mach Discussion / probing and z height zero issue.
« on: June 22, 2020, 01:17:57 PM »
I have the Probeit probe and a generic z height setting tool.
Ill attached a picture of the z height tool and probe it that I am trying to use

I can not get both them to work without having to change the active low settings before using them.
If i go to ports and pins under probe with active low selected  (green check) it will work. But the z height will not when I switch the plugs from one to the other.
If i use the z height i have to have active low disable (red x )and it will work but the probe won't.

Is there something i am missing or this combination will not work.

I am milling metals  on the mill so not able to use a probe plate.

any help or a device that will work please let me know.

thanks
john

General Mach Discussion / Re: Motor will not jog at slow speed.
« on: November 26, 2015, 07:46:41 PM »
Figured it out after stating to troubleshooting motor wiring.
Both the x and y axis wiring had a bad spot in them. Replaced wiring both axis working fine now.

Running a test cut now and see if I have all my setting back to where they need to be.

General Mach Discussion / Motor will not jog at slow speed.
« on: November 25, 2015, 10:29:02 PM »
Had a motor lock up on me.
First thought the x axis screw was in a bind but enede up being  the motor locked up.
Order new motor and installed and now the x and y axis are acting like they are binding up when jogging at a slow speed bit when you get it over 60% they move. But when moving 100% they are fine.
Thought it was my g540 driver messed up put a spare one in and same problem Tried different setting and same issues.

Deleted mach 3 thinking maybe something got corrupted and reprogram everything same problems.

Screws turn fine when motors are powered off.

Also noticed with using the keyboard which is the only way i have to jog right now.
If i go in one direction x-  then go x+ the direction doesn't change if you click back and forth on each one it straight up. it does it in the y direction also.

here a link to a video showing my issues

Mach4 General Discussion / Need terminology help
« on: April 09, 2015, 01:11:42 PM »
I want to be able to save starting points for different projects with out having to re zero.

Example when I start my machine I reference everything home then move my machine to x 3.375 and y -2.707 that puts everything but the z where I want to start each time. With out having to zero x and y every time.

I think I should be using active work offsets on the offset screen. But not sure what I should be doing.

any guidance would be appreciated.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Touch probe?

Never did do the drawing but did get a new control case built.
The wiring looks a lot different that what i originally had.

I did get the probe to activate now buy using input 3 and running the other wire to terminal 12.

Graham thanks again for your diagram it really helped me redo my case.

Thanks I think I noticed a few things wired different. I will post a schematic of my wiring when I get them drawn tomorrow.

I have a extra power supply and g540 I am going to mount it in a computer case tomorrow and see if i can figure this out.

Don't want to unwire my working setup till i figure this out. All i have is limit switches wired to it but it doesn't look anywheres close to wiring diagram you posted.
