« on: April 12, 2017, 01:10:06 PM »
How do I set steps per inch with Dmm sevos ? Ive done steppers but not servos.
The gear ratio is 2/1 46t/23t pulley . Im not sure of the ballscrew size yet im still looking . Its an older Sharnoa cnc .

As I wrote Im doing a retro fit. One of the older power supply for the 24v AC had a ceramic capacitor the bridges the two -+ sides together . I hooked that power supply up with that capacitor  and boom it works.
I have no clue what capacitor it is because the top of the resistor is laminated in a red wax material .
At least im on the right track.

This is a common problem with many manufactures. A quick google search will show that . Once the load triggers the on mechanism/ circut they wont shut off until there is a certain lack of or provided volts. People use different resistors or capacitors to achieve this . Im not savy enough to know.
I have ten new solid state relays . I doubt there all bad.
could be though

General Mach Discussion / SSR relay wont power down

Im doing a retrofit on an older  sharnoa a cnc  machine. I have Dmm Ac servos ess board w/ c62 bob. Im trying to hook my coolant ssr relay up . I can power the pump fine but when I go to shut it down it stays running. The input and load are connected properly . The input is the 4.95v from the ess the load is 220v.
Any suggestions?

What do you mean by "jumper X in" Im illiterate when it comes to servos.
Any suggestion on drives . I want to say I seen something saying they operate at 185v and 9 amps. I dont mind them being slightly under powered . No one here is looking for blazing fast rapids. We have a few new Hass machines for that.

Im able to jog them with the old tiger 4 controller as is  . Whats the difference between analogue  drivers vs  digital .
The picture I have of the driver matches another picture Ive found stating its a AC not DC digital servo driver.
So what does this change for me ?

My boss tasked me with retrofitting an older sharnoa sdc20.
Ive built stepper based cnc machines. Never anything with servos.
He is a guy who wants to spendnothing and get everything. Im tasked with doing this as cheap as possible.
The sharnoa used Fanuc 6m motors . The drives and motors still work so I was hoping to hook up a motion controller or break out board and call it a day.
Can any one verify a smooth stepper board will hook up to these drives (link bellow) there the exact same ones used by the sdc20.
Any pointers?

Mach4 General Discussion / Re: Mach 4 Feature Request

Steve ,
Thanks for clearing that up.
At this point Ive purchased nothing for the new system. So its all up in the air . Ive been reading allot about Kflop( obviously not understanding it all) that seems like the control I want .
The best part of solidcam in my eyes is as my machine changes or what ever type of automation I can dream up I , me myself can design a post processor that's capable of running it no matter what craziness I can think of . Sky's the limit. When the Gcode comes out its perfect as if as

I was reading Kflop only halts when there is a fault but doesn't alter what ever it needs to to make sure it gets from point a to point b. Might as well stay with steppers in my opinion. I cant see pay that much more just to know I have a fault. I will look into galil though thanks.
Yes solidcams something else . I use 2014 daily. I cant believe some of the stuff its capable of doing in the time frame.
